What is the thought process like of people that are searching for an agency or a freelancer to build their Product/MVP?
I am trying to figure out the mediums or ways (other than referrals) used by people that want to build an MVP. Do they use google? If yes, then what keywords do they use?
Let me know if you’ve built or want to build your MVP, what’s the process been like? What stages did you go through?
I imagine it's a mix between referrals, looking at similar apps, and google searches.
One thing I have noticed on many Sass companies websites is their callout to specific industries, for example medical. This would lead me to believe that there are companies out there searching not only for companies to build their Sass app, but also ones that have a track record in their industry. I think industries like finance or medical where things can get really complex or has strict regulation is where this likely to matter more, but I think it's a valid benefit for really any industry.
This is where I also would think similar apps would also come into play. If I can find a company that's built an app I like or in the industry then that can help me make a shortlist. I could image someone searching for rough ideas of what they're looking for, and taking note of the companies that have build them.
This is all purely anecdotal, but if I was looking for a company to build a Sass app this would the type of stuff that would start off my search, at least for the initial stages to start getting proposals.

I'd be in favor of building an MVP this way to measure traction. However, if you're deadset on hiring someone I would skip agencies completely and find a single TRUSTED person to help you build it.
Why would you skip agencies? And where would you find a trusted person? What are the necessary factors in your opinion that make a person trusted?
I've worked in agencies for 10+ years and I think 20% of them are trustworthy and 80% aren't... Whereas I tend to have better luck one on one with a developer/designer. I think it might even be inversed?
In regards to where to find someone... I'd say here would be the best place for that!
Do people like to micromanage where they are placing their money? Or another way to phrase it: do people like to have full control over what they are investing in?

Starting from some point I found the easiest and fastest way to create MVP was using my own boilerplate, it's for SaaS https://www.saasforge.dev, has an opensource version what could be enough for many cases.
That’s really cool! But I was targeting the non technical people’s thought process.
