What is the biggest challenge you are currently working on?

How are you trying to fix it?

Can any Indie Hackers help you try to fix it?

My biggest challenege right now is figuring out a strategy to get eyes on my new project lawof100.co

Usually I jump right in and build a product, only to realise it is not as needed as I thought. This time I am using a landing page to try guage interest, but am getting stuck at getting it in front of people.

Indies can help by giving feedback, ideas or simply sharing on their socials.

Alternatively, if anyone feels I personally could help them in some way, please reach out to me! (I am a product designer by day, so if anyone needs design-related-feedback, ocnsultancy, tips, whatever, hit me up!)

      Hey Kieran,

I really like the idea of your product. Just signed up. I think it would also be a great fit for my project: https://melbado.com/

If in return you could give me some feedback, that would be great!

Thanks, and best of luck to you!

Morning @whereismypen! Thank you for signing up 😊

So, I like the idea you are going for, I assume it is a directory for people to submit startups?

My first bit of feedback would be to explain what it is you do, maybe a small header or something above the list, or even an about page (I had a similar issue with another project of mine, heeed.co and put a hero image above the list)

Secondly, upon clicking submit a product, it asks me to register and that put me off. I think it is because there isn't enough understanding of what you are doing, and why I need to register (What are the benefits of registering vs just being allowed to submit a link?) If the answer is not really beneficial to the user, there will be a lot of friction when it comes time to sign up and submit.

As far as design, I like the simplicity. It is clean, minimal and to the point. There may be a way to add more information down the line (categories, tags, etc) but overall I think it is certainly good enough now to focus on other areas :)

        Hope that helps!

Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, melbado is kinda like Product Hunt, but more vertical. I hope that it helps startups to get and analyse feedback. (Not horizontal, posting jobs, etc.)

E.g. users can ask questions towards the makers. The makers can then learn and build an public FAQ.

The idea with the header is great, I'm thinking about how I could do this without disturbing the flow.

The signup is actually not a big problem. Only a small number of users don't like to register. And I think that a registered user is much more valuable than anonymous traffic.

Categories, tags, etc. certainly something I will have to add if it continuous to grow like that.

Again, thank you for the feedback! It certainly helps.

I am having the exact same problem!
I was thinking about straight up walking to potential people from my target audience and talking to them. First finding out where there is a high probability of them hanging out then go there and talk to 10 people. Haven'nt done it so far though..

      1. 2

Yeah that does sound like a good way to get infront of people, I have had that sort of thing happen to me, and maybe 1/25 I actually end up replying too, so maybe it is a numbers game?

        1. 1

Yeah, the first 5-10 are the hardest

Morning @taimoorapps thank you for signing up and the kind words.
I find social media hard as it feels like just shouting into the void, any thoughts on types of tweets you would be interested in reading/would catch your attention?

My challenge is to get a single active user to use my product. I launched my product 2 months ago. But there is no single user so far. I submitted to many web sites and several sub-reddits.

I made a privacy-focused personal knowledge management software with search engine (https://www.thecommissure.com).

How can I get a single active user?

I like your concept. It looks similar to what Evernote offers, no? Have you thought about partnering with affiliates to promote your product?

      1. 1

Yes it is similar to Evernote. But It does not have multi-device support and sync function yet. I've never thought an affiliate partnership. Is it good to try?

        1. 1

You should explore every avenue for marketing. Do look into affiliate programs. It will definitely work for you.

I'm building a platform that lists interesting startups: https://melbado.com/

The big problem is that people submit their startup and then never come back. I've added a section where people can ask the makers anything. Makers will learn more about their audience and early adopters get to know the product better. But it seem hard to find people who ask good questions.

Do you have any other ideas how I can make melbado a platform that people would want to come back to every day?

I'm launching a product this week to give start ups and e-commerce brand an identity and a brand for a set price (3 tiered pricing). My challenge currently is to launch with everything I need including the infrastructure to accept payments, etc...

    And customers, always :)

I'm in a very competitive space.
Biggest challenge: building target audience so that i can shape my product solution based on their feedback.

Things trying to fix: tried reaching out to people through cold emailing, twitter dms, joined a few Facebook groups, asking for feedback /advice on Indiehackers. So far cold emailing is working for me.
I didn't realize that the power of twitter before for building audience so I'll be posting about the progress update of my product on Twitter account.
    Lets see how it goes.

Yes, the people I have approached through emails are from Indiehackers community. They are so helpful as they take their time & give their valuable feedback for my product.

Finding a dataset. Development can not be done without this. Help!

My biggest challenge is my livelihood and the livelihood of my team building Makerlog.

Bootstrapping it to $1k MRR is a serious challenge.

    1. 2

      What ways are you monetizing?

      1. 2

We're just launching next week a new subscription plan and a whole new advertising system.

I would say mental health. I am beating myself up for not having more revenue.

Building a better product than my competitors by unlocking more robustness while keeping things super simple. I am re-working my mind so that I am sharper and can run a business from a numbers perspective. I'm trying to incorporate better habits, meditation, mindfulness, etc. Incorporating more stoicism while driving more sales and being less attached to the product.

I could always use someone to chat with and accountibility partners.

I'm having trouble thinking of new ways to promote my book and get new people to see it, without doing ads. https://blog.openpodcast.xyz/podcast-book/
