What is your biggest social media challenge?

Hi fellow indiehackers🤙🏼

  • I wonder what your biggest challenge is keeping up your Instagram account.
  • Do you have any goals you'd like to achieve with your social media account? And I don't mean results as a goal ;-)

The first 5 comments I'll do a FREE hashtag research for your account.

For me, it's being consistent in responding to other people.
I always love to get feedback myself so I tend to take my own medicine and feedback on what people make, mainly on Twitter, every now and then on IG.

Hardest, for now, is actually Pinterest, just started since people told me it's a good way to drive traffic to my blog, but have got like 1 view only...

Also for hashtags, I just use https://displaypurposes.com/ for Instagram
    Twitter i do on feel

Biggest challenge is justifying spending the time on it.

Curious to know what hashtags you'd use for Indie Hackers :)

I agree. Working hard on not coding and engaging. I love engaging but it feels like I am not getting anything done. I feel best on social media when I have a game plan and am disciplined.

And is there ever a moment you have the feeling you justified it?

I've used https://targetaudience.app to collect this list with the number of posts in it as well.

My biggest challenge is consistency. I have been creating a few posts for https://www.instagram.com/storycreatorapp/

The problem is each post takes 1-2 hours min. I don't have a large audience so it feels futile sometimes. You just have to belive the effort is going to pay off. Another problem is juggling this with the need to do user interviews, improve an already complex product, amongst other things.

I am starting to think that I should treat my IG account like I would a product. I should first engage in communities and find what folks are talking about. Engage and see what they're interested in. Then make my content around that and just keep showing up.

It can be grueling and it is important to have laser focus opposed to being scattered. I believe if I can schedule it and be disciplined it will work out.

What I see when I check your page is 30 somewhat posts combined down to 6. Remember that people have the attention span of a strawberry nowadays, so they rather read small tips. The content you share looks beautiful, but I might expect to see more about the content you can produce with Storycreator. Cause the app looks awesome! Which app do you use for scheduling posts?

I created a list of 40 hashtags so you can vary a little bit between posts ;-)

How do you differentiate yourself from all the other players out there?
i.e. I am a UX/UI Designer who has been thinking for a while now to create a dedicated IG account to what I do.
There are quite a lot of players in this niche though. Given that IG is the perfect platform to showcase design outputs I do understand that. There is massive potential to grow yourself as a public imagine. But how do you differentiate from what others are already doing? A part from trends / tutorials / and design outputs what is attracting people to this discipline?

I’ve been thinking to dedicate the account to those that are just starting. UX design is often a discipline that comes as a mixture of many others (i.e. product design, pm, communications, psychology, research, visual design). So this passage might be confusing.

But I guess would be interesting to hear your point of view.

It is hard to differentiate yourself in the market of UX/UI designers but I wouldn't call this a niche. I once had a teacher who made just simple Wordpress websites who looked really nice. The website designs did not attract new customers necessarily it was his target market. He focused only on physiotherapists and his conversion of leads was as high as it can be.

In which profession do you have most of your customers? If you'd like to start an IG account and need some tips, send me a message.
