What is your biggest struggle with being a dad?

Hey,
Being a father of two kids (1 and 7), being an entrepreneur and on paid part time paternity leave (#SwedenRules). I struggle with finding fun things to do for the weekends other than just hitting the regular playground. And scheduling a playdate is a real hassle, the biggest "playdate conversion rate" I get is when you send a spontaneous text to another dad asking if they want to go out in and hour or two.

It would be fun to hear what your biggest challenges are!

Playground is #1 for spontaneous activities. Library #2. Children's Museum or science discovery center #3. Then there are enough birthday parties and school events that take up the remaining weekends. I try to avoid scheduled commitments because whenever that happens, they never seem to be in the mood to hang out with those other kids. I only schedule commitments that I know for sure I'll get something out of. So for example, I might schedule a time to watch football with other dads and we agree the kids will have to fend for themselves in the backyard or kids room (we live in an American suburb)

My biggest challenge is that my spouse has been home with me for the past 11 months with our baby, and we have two more older children. The spontaneous requests to perform tasks in the morning that mean I don't get to sit down at my desk until 10am, to discuss home decor in the middle of the day(?!), or take a trip to IKEA 90 minutes away have really worn on me. I have been able to buckle down the past few weeks to get much more accomplished each day thanks to putting everything into Trello boards and assigning due dates to each task, but the past 11 months have been very trying. Things will go back to normal in a few weeks when the baby begins daycare, but for now I still have to deal with interruptions that last far more time than she ever says they will.

Get your older kid to join a club.

I’m actually one of the founders of dad.do :)
I just wanted to leave product talk out of this topic, maybe that was not the decision?

Perhaps dad.do is doing well but I would think focusing only on Dads already artificially limits your pool.

I understand what you mean, there are quite a few dads out there in the world, but we do see that there can be a need to target moms as well later on, however, there already are a number of apps targeting moms.
