Hi all!
I've found that week after week, sharing a weekly update and even doing a product feature release is a good way to make sure I focus on customer facing updates, as opposed to just improving the "product" in ways that don't result in customer visible changes.
Combining the process of talking to customers with shipping improvements feels like a super power.
I'm curious, what kind of things you do to keep a regular cadence of shipping and learning from the products you ship?
I am the biggest power user of my own product. Some users are slowly catching up, but it will take some time. It helps me find edge cases that might need fixing because they annoy me personally daily.
I like the build in public strategy. Sharing useful and interesting things as I work on my projects seems to work pretty well for me. Trying to write a "devlog" sort of blog post on my site at least a few times a month.
Most recently, I started doing a short written "top 5 tasks" list. It is really helping me so far. Each day I complete all the listed tasks on the list, I can add another tally to the day counter. Each day progressing, and beating my previous streak. (I learned this from a Peter Mckinnon video, I can link it if you want)
In this digital age that we all live in, especially indie hackers making products and services on the internet, I think there is real power in physically writing down your thoughts and todos. It helps me.
