What is your goto stack for creating static websites fast?

I previously used WordPress but it never felt quite right. Now I am giving a shot for Hugo & GitHub Pages. I just started to experiment with Hugo so I can't give any insights regarding it, but I would be interested hearing what tools other people use and why.
