What is your story?
Good evening to you, indie hackers,
It's Friday night and I'm feeling pensive.
I'm building my freelance no-coder portfolio and during my breaks I like to browse the Indie Hacker site and read about your adventures.
I can't help but wonder what brings us together here. Why do we trust and feel more similar here to these strangers than to some of the people we've known since childhood?
Why are you here? What brought you here? Tell me your story.
My friend @JoshTernyak referred me because he wanted me to share my html templates from my old project buildfaster.co.

Ok, if you’ve got a landing page website already then you don’t need an HTML template. You would probably need a game engine to start up with.
I’m not very experienced in this area so you could probably get in touch with other indie hackers who are or just by looking for a tutorial.

There's truly something magical about finding like-minded people on a platform like this. Many times, the people we know from our life aren't necessarily people that support us or want us to succeed. Subconsciously they feel jealousy or irritation due to their ego, knowing that they're not maximizing their own full potential. Seeing others succeed, who come from a similar background, absolutely devastates them.
On a platform like Indie Hacker, most users are actively seeking to attain the success they desire, and with so many amazing stories being shared, we witness that success is never that far away. We see that success is simple but not easy. Everyone truly has a unique perspective to share, and all that's required is for us to keep an open mind and consider new perspectives.
I'm here because I was doing a trend search on Exploding Topics (no endorsement) and Indie Hacker was trending as a topic. I decided to check it out and in retrospect I didn't know what I was missing.
Regarding my background, I served six years in the US Navy in the medical field and shortly thereafter I got into sales. I quit the job to finish my college degree, while also simultaneously delving into ecommerce (dropshipping). Now I'm working on a SAAS platform for the tax resolution industry while attending a coding bootcamp.

Like you, I discovered this place only a few months ago and it was a slap in the face for me.
For the first time I discovered a space where entrepreneurs shared their successes but also their failures, their fears, their questions, their anxieties.
I congratulate you for joining bootcamp, I'm sure your perspectives will grow as you progress. What made you leaving the Navy ?

And I agree, seeing the ups and downs keeps things well-grounded.
I left the Navy because I felt myself outgrowing the organization. It's not an environment that rewards innovation.
I don't want to dox myself but it's a pretty well-regarded program on the west coast.
Lastly, I'm working on the tax market because it's a sleeping giant worth over 40B dollars per annum and I'm familiar with the industry (sold tax products).
What are you currently pursuing?
As I think you know, when you're working on entrepreneurial projects but the people around you are not in that world, you can feel very alone, and sometimes crazy.
To be quite honest with you, I don't have a very good idea of the army, its philosophy and its outcomes. I'm happy for you that you found another way.
As an entrepreneur, I have to tell you that I find taxation systems very, very complicated, when our job is to make things smooth and produce a good experience for our users. I live in France and I can't complain, the system is such that people here manage to get help from the state and the state has the means. But it is difficult to understand what you have to pay or not, to deal with the institutions. The world is changing much faster than their system.
To answer your question, I'm joining a web development bootcamp (front & back) in September and I'm working on a SaaS that will allow second-hand shop sellers to sell on several marketplaces and automate repetitive tasks on these platforms.
Maybe I should introduce myself?
I come from a modest, proletarian class. I studied psychology at university for a few years and then got tired of sitting in a chair while I saw the world crumbling around me. So I left school and started working on positive impact projects with friends.
After many value propositions that unfortunately didn't allow me to find any market fit, I started to master the use of no-code tools like Bubble, Airtable, Weblfow or Integromat and I started to sell my services to startups and freelancers in order to be able to live and continue working on my projects.
I am interested and competent in the second-hand clothing market. I have sold some second-hand clothes, and I think that scalable SaaS solutions would allow them to make a better living from their business and help find alternatives to fast-fashion. This is what my current projects are about.
So, what is your story?
I got here by random chance. I must say that the discussions and content here are much more interesting than most other platforms.

I can only support you in the idea of a revolution, as the current system(s) do not suit me. But to make room for what? What do you imagine? What is your utopia?
Like you, I don't have the knowledge to develop my own projects at the moment. So there are three solutions.
Learn to code, find a technical co-founder, or pay someone.
There are a lot of words on your blog, I'm sure they would resonate with other indie hackers thirsting for revolution. Do you ever consider to publish your work as an physical or electronic book?
