What it means not to be featured on Product hunt?
When you submit a product on Product Hunt, it isn't guaranteed that it will be featured on the homepage.
I wrote an in-depth article about the topic in September 2024 and how it makes Product Hunt unreliable for indie hackers.
Since then, things have changed again:
- Currently, 25 products are featured each day
- Featured products get 50 upvotes headstart and are more visible in the first 4 hours of the launch
- You still have chances to catch up with the featured products but it requires a lot of work

How do you get featured?
It is a manual curation by Product Hunt team. Unfortunately, there isn't any clear rules about it so it's mainly about getting lucky.
For indie hackers, I recommend to do as no-frill preparation as possible to not waste resources in case you are not featured.
