What makers think about swag?

Hey makers,

Growth is a hot topic in tech and I'm interested what makers here think about swag (t-shirts, mugs, notebooks, headphones, powerbanks, etc).

Have you ever had anything with your logo?

Have you ever received any cool stuff you keep / use to this day?

I've had this small swag company for 10+ years serving big clients such as Cisco, Siemens, Microsoft, BASF, Toyota, to name the few.

As I'm part of the tech community and building my own tech products now, I feel I'd be great to use my experience to help other makers understand what really works and how to avoid common pitfalls.

ATM, I'm re-working my swag website and will start writing guides and checklists on the subject.

Meanwhile, I am here to answer any questions or comments 😉

Swag is a great tool in influencer marketing.
Showing up on Instagram/Facebook/etc. in a cap/t-shirt with your logo can not only help build brand awareness, but also generate traffic.

Our logo (Super Monitoring) is a bit too complex to be used on clothes. That's why we bought a short domain (su-mo.com) and print it on caps.

      Your cap looks solid!
And those superheroes can be a nice theme if you can make it work with copyrights.

I like the su-mo.com shortened link purchase. Good as an investment and to be used as a shorter url when needed.

Swag's a good thing as long you don't get too carried away with it. Print on demand has been a real game changer in this area for me. Getting swag done for some of my previous companies meant having a box of t-shirts in my garage in a range of sizes. Nowadays you can just whip up a swag section on your own page and use it as a little cash generator for any of your super fans who want to rock your brand.

I've also got a few little things made for myself that just make for conversation starters to talk about your brand a bit. Today I'm actually going to order myself a bright yellow phone case with my brand on it and turn myself into a walking advertisement. Every eyeball counts.

Bright yellow phone case sounds like a cool idea.
If everyone had same size phones you could've given it to others too.

Tshirts, mugs, reusable coffee cups, notebooks, temporary tattoos, stickers.

Nice. Is that for your team only or you also give these things away?

We give them away at our conferences and sometimes at our meetups too.
