What makes you happy when you are feeling sad?

I carry this idea already for many years.

Problem:
I'm feeling sad

Solution:
Happy App

Everytime you feel sad, you should open the app. Afterwards, you feel better.

The problem is, what should the app do?

I collected many ideas that might help:

  1. Write each day 3 things that where good today
  2. Present quotes
  3. Articles about happieness
  4. Your happy moments. It's like Harry Potters patronus. He must think about the happiest moment in his life to summon a mighy protector.
  5. Happy songs. You list of music that makes you happy
  6. Achievements. Like a list of things you want to accomplish and are commited to. Later you can revisit everything. For example: finish school, lost 10 kg, earned $10k, marry someone...
  7. Letter to yourself. Write a letter why you should be happy.
  8. Testimonials: Ask friends to say something nice to you. Make audio recording of it. Listen to it again when you feel sad.
  9. Your Buddy: You can search for another person in the app that act as your personal "therapist". You can chat/talk to that person about your problems. The "therapist" is commited to listen and help.

I have 44 more content ideas. The problem is, which content will make the greates impact? Is that even a good idea to make the Happy App?

  1. 1

When people will come on your app they may feel happy for a few minutes but the impact will not be for long. Here is the issue - When anyone is sad they have a problem in their mind or maybe the things are not going the way they are expected. And your app will not be able to provide a direct solution to their problem. The app may give them relief but not the solution which leads to unhappiness again.

Happy App is needed but not the way you are presenting it. You can focus more on making this app that stops people from been unhappy at the first place. Not precisely, but something that teaches them to handle life issues smoothly by following some mental and spiritual exercise daily that are available on the happy app.

For "Your Buddy" section - the therapist needs to know what he or she is doing. They need to be an expert in helping. If not then their advice will not be accepted easily by the client. This is the exact problem 7cups.com faced initially and now they have a professional therapists along with their "listener" team to help the visitors who are facing problems in life.
