What metrics are most important to track?

Do you guys have a spreadsheet or other SaaS for start-ups that allows you to track what's important? I'm still learning what metrics I need to keep track of, so was looking for something to start with that pointed out the key things I need to watch daily, weekly, monthly.

Off the top of my head, I'm supposing I need to track:

  • Monthly Reoccurring Revenue - MRR
  • New users
  • Lost users
  • Spent on advertising
  • Net Profit

I'm sure there's a lot more.

The activity of the users on your site.

    For example:

I run an email service Kingmailer.co

So for me it’s important to know how many users are using the service of the people that have registered:

    So for example:

    • did the user add a domain?
    • how many domains were added
    • did the user verify the domain (how many users verified their domains after adding)
    • number of emails that were sent during period x
    • number of SMTP credentials used / not used etc

    So I would say:

The metrics differ per SaaS, what’s important for your business to keep track of?

For Saas you also need to worry about "Churn" (how many users cancel or are no longer customers and "CLV - Customer Lifetime Value" (which is how much money you make in the lifetime of a customer).

On the marketing side, I built a free app that helps you track metrics like CLV, CPC and more, let me know if you find it useful: http://timelessdigitalmarketing.com/

    Interesting @SteveIsIn292

Yea a lot of important metrics indeed. Do you think Baremetrics would do the job?

I'm currently using Databox and a custom GA dashboard to measure critical metrics.

I actually just signed up with them. I also did a zoom call with them to learn more and so far it definitely suits the bill. Not too expensive either. Currently on the 14 day trial.

I stumbled on them after seeing ConvertKits dashboard there. 😍
