What Motivates You to Blog?

I like the challenge of testing whether people will really want to hear what I have to say.

Gathering my notes and experiences for further reference, sharing my expertise, practicing writing, and hopefully gaining a following who may be interested in my products and projects.

I keep a personal blog to track my progress. This way when I am feeling unmotivated, I can see how far I have come.

I’m motivated to try and write something that people will engage with via comments or sharing. That is my personal goal right now. Hasn’t happened so still figuring it out.

I wrote about it not too long ago, as a reminder:

At this stage, writing is a channel that I can use to build up knowledge. To find back my reflections and build upon them. Writing in this space is not about performative blogging, but about exploration. I want to re-learn how I think and link ideas and I do believe that there are no better means to do it but to sit down and write. For me, writing is also partly a way of documenting, it's not only about creation.

## Why Publicly

I want to explore the approach of learning in public, I want to see what happens when I fear being wrong in public and how that would affect and steer my own process. Going public has a two-fold purpose. On the one hand it allows me to be known, to be read by people that may or may not share my thoughts, but that are willing to discuss and force me to reflect deeper.

The other purpose is to try to create an impact. I do believe that many problems stem from a lack of understanding of the world. I think there are many missed opportunities for improvement, for creating a healthier internet, a healthier world. I'm fascinated by the open hardware movement, and would love to be a resonance box. I also want to openly discuss about technology transfer and its many risks and opportunities ahead.

My motivation was/and kinda still is to break my procrastination habit.
I find productivity is a great topic to write about since many people struggle with (me included) so writing about something is the best way to learn it.

Plus writing makes me feel good and motivates me to do other things. on top of that I want to improve my writing style & ability

To prove haters wrong.

3 main reasons I blog:

• To rank for specific keywords on Google, Bing, etc.

• To provide "bottom of funnel" content so as to target readers with high purchase intent

• To make public a "how to" guide for my SaaS product to not only serve existing customers but also bring in new customers

When my blog was profitable before COVID: Money. Money and being able to help an increasing number of people.

Helping people is great, but if I'm honest about what motivated me to keep working on it over four years or so, it was seeing my metrics increase both in terms of traffic and earnings.

Since then, it's about writing things (on other websites) that resonate with people.

I find creating things is the best way to have cool people reach out to you, instead of reaching for cold connections.

Two things -

1. figuring out what I think about a topic and getting it in front of people so that the idea can be stress tested
2. because it provides value to the people who read it!
