What new skills do you want to acquire in 2020?

I would like to learn more about mobile development. How about you?

I failed at learning React(okay I did manage to get one site completed but it was painful). I ended up learning Vue, and I'm really liking it!

Glad you like Vue! Also my favorite framework. Have you checked out Nuxt? It's great!+

I really enjoyed the book Impro for Storytellers. Might be worth having a look.

In terms of indiehacking, I mostly just want want to get better at skills I already have, such as programming (in general), podcasting and writing. Elixir is crucial since I teach it and I also want to improve at Rust.

Completely unrelated to business, I want to work on my singing and maybe find some time for more (human) language learning!

Would love to learn more about marketing and building an audience. The benefits of having a large following is shown time and time again on the podcast.

I think that takes time and effort. I checked out your website, sent you a page we've been working on endlessly :)

Thank you yes I think time and effort is the only way which is fair enough if you want to build the correct target audience.

I will check out your link thank you

I want to paint the real world more accurately using watercolor. Not photorealistic, just getting better with proportions, perspective & color.

    the art of focusing

I would want to learn more about system dynamics (modelling) as it seems like a lot of interesting issues might be solved with it.

I'll trade someone React/React Native knowledge for knowledge of how to read/write to a DB from a web application properly :)

Firebase seems to be the go to for frontend devs

Sales! I've failed all of my projects in that phase. I also build stuff but give up building an audience for it. I'm just super quickly discourage to continue. This needs to stop! 💪 :)

Building an audience to share helpful UI/UX content with.

    1. 1

Thought of starting a Youtube channel? I think videos are one of the best ways to share UI/UX resources while creating them.

      1. 2

It's crossed my mind but I'm not sure how to be efficient with my time... Blogging I can spread out over many small chunks of time, but I'm not sure how to do that when producing video. Any ideas?

        1. 1

Maybe you could record yourself when working on some UI/UX anyways and talk a bit. This way you don't have to do extra UI/UX outside your normal working time. You could also post the videos & code snippets on a blog of course :)

Hey Shiv, I was in your shoes this time last year. Started reading a lot on the subject. Here's some of the best stuff I found:

I got so into it that I set up my own thing — Marketing Examples — where I share short, sweet, real world examples of great marketing. Poured months into it. And genuinely think it will help you. All free.

Finally, I'll add that no amount of reading is a substitute for executing. The map is not the terrain — Nassim Taleb

Saved for later. Thanks for those ressources !
