What newsletters have you sponsored? Was it effective?
hello IH'ers! I'd love to know...are there specific newsletters that you read that have slots for sponsored posts that you would recommend? Have you ever sponsored a newsletter with a paid advertisment? was it effective? Would love to hear about your experiences!
We (EmailOctopus) are experimenting with sponsoring newsletters. We've had some good successes so far. What we've found works best is sponsoring the newsletters created by our users – that way there's a good affinity between us (the advertiser), the audience and the newsletter creator. It works especially well then the newsletter creator highlights that they use EmailOctopus to power their newsletter.
It's a good brand awareness channel though we have also seen direct response to these ads. I also recommend building long-term relationships with newsletter creators as a one-off ad might not do much but a series will.

Do you have a list of creators in your community that do classifieds or sponsored posts? I'd love to browse through and see if there are any good fits for Reflection.app
(Thinking with my marketing hat on for EO: Could be a nice content piece to do for your blog! A great way to promote your customers newsletters, and also a way for potential advertisers to find good fits! Maybe some decent SEO as well from people like me looking for a list of newsletters that offer sponsored posts!)

Off the top of my head, Nic at The Slice offers classified ads, as does Kai at Dense Discovery.

We've experimented a bit, did a sponsored Betalist email in the past year with 'meh' results. I'd also love to hear from others who have tried it.
