What nobody tells you about building in public β€” my honest Week 4 breakdown

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

I've been documenting my $0 to $20k challenge here since Week 1. Today I want to talk about something most build-in-public threads skip β€” the part that happens behind the scenes.

The numbers everyone sees: $42 earned. Portfolio live. Token on Solana mainnet. Fiverr order closed. X following growing. Daily posts. It looks like steady progress from the outside.

Here's what actually happened behind that. End of Week 3 into Week 4, I got sick. Not dramatically sick, but enough that the energy I had for the first three weeks just disappeared. I sent 10 cold DMs that week β€” businesses, potential clients, real outreach. Zero replies. Not one.

I kept watching other people's build-in-public threads, the ones with thousands of likes and six-figure exits, and for a few days it genuinely felt like I was moving in slow motion while everyone else was sprinting.

This is the part nobody talks about. Nobody shows the day where you don't feel like opening your laptop. Nobody shows the cold DM that gets left on read for two weeks straight. Nobody shows the moment you start questioning if the plan even works, even though you're only one month in.

Build in public culture sells the wins. The $800k exits. The viral threads. What it doesn't sell is the week where your body and your motivation both check out at the same time, and you have to decide whether to push through or actually rest.
So here's what I did about it. I rested. Actually rested, not "working from bed" rested. Took the drugs, slept, stayed off the laptop for a few days. Then I came back and posted the truth on X instead of pretending everything was fine. No fake hype, no filtered version.

Where I am now β€” starting fresh from where I stopped. Same plan, same $20k target, same six month window. Just with the honest understanding that consistency doesn't mean perfection. It means showing up again after the gap, even if the gap was real.

If you're building something and you hit a wall like this, you're not behind. You're just human. The people who actually make it aren't the ones who never stop. They're the ones who stop, rest, and come back anyway.

Anyone else been through this? How did you push through the silence after a slow week?
