What Online Products You Purchased in 2020?
As we are approaching the end of 2020, which has been very different from anything we've ever seen, it's time to pause for a minute and look back at what we spent for (and possibly give it a rating out of 5 on its utility). As a community we can learn from others. Let's share what products we have been using to grow our businesses or plan for it (B2B and paid products only). I've listed down the books , online courses and newsletters I've purchased.
This will help us understand few things:
Trends
- What products are emerging as new alternatives to existing products.
Demand
- What online products are in demand?
Combo
- Helps us understand which products are used in combination with others (for example buyer of product X also bought Y)?
Motivation
- What are the stuff we are willing to pay for (even today when everything's being offered for free 😁 )
Recap
- A good way to have a look back at our purchases and plan for 2021 ✌
I've listed down my own purchases in the comments. I've used these pointers to rate the products- has it delivered what it promised, is it easy to replicate (or needs you to do X, Y and Z before you can follow through), it offers more than what is available for free, have I gained a new perspective or changed a habit because of the product.
Interesting- I haven't tried any of these except Mailchimp. Will check them out.

Yes, that's my own rating. Software ideas- the rating is based on its utility for me and not based on the quality of the newsletter. I recently have taken subscription of trends which comes at a similar price point and gives more relevant data about a niche plus has awesome community and databases. They also demonstrate successful businesses coming out of their news letter. Haven't seen any such update from software ideas.
Ahrefs- I was mostly using it for keyword research. The keywords data is outdated (even ubersuggest is better than this). I've done an analysis of around 100 keywords from my own search console and this data is highly misleading and many cheaper tools are providing better data points.
Can you share the other cheaper better tools compared to ahrefs? I tried it for a week and it was easy to navigate and use comparing to ubersuggest which does not have the best interface. I even noticed some bugs in the interface when browsing from mobile.
SEMRush is in the same price tag of ahrefs.
Depends on your use case. If you're interested in backlink research, ahrefs is still better than others. If it's just keyword research, you can try kwfinder.com - they also have a 10 day trial.
