What percent of your Podcast Episodes are Interviews?

Hey guys, need your help yet again!!!!

Just wondering what percentage of your podcast episodes are interviews? A ball park figure like 10%, 50%, 80% are all more than fine!

I'm trying to help you guys with some software im making and need a little bit of market research!

Thank you for taking the time to post! :)

      hahahah, fair enough

are you planning on doing any interviews?

      1. 2

Not right now, first want to get a good number of episodes out and promote my podcast before I start doing any interviews

I don't blame you one bit, I think you're doing the right thing. You're building authority in your niche and creating an audience.

However, do you use any other mediums to build an audience, such as a blog or twitter? Or do you just rely on podcasting?

          • Have you found it hard to grow an audience podcasting?

Yeah, I am using a blog, Twitter and newsletter to grow my podcast. I am not sure if it’s hard to grow an audience as I have literally started 2 weeks ago, so I need to give this some time :)

              Love it.

Is the blog a direct transcript of your podcast? Or something completely separate?

              1. 2

Thanks! It's separate - blog is quite strict as I only write about challenges and experiments, but on the podcast, I can expand beyond those topics.

Would you be open to the idea of using your podcast transcript as a blog as a standalone piece of content?

You could upload it to your website and medium... expand your reach with no extra work?

                  1. 2

No, thanks. The current podcast format does not fit the blog format and I already have software that transcriber my audio as I record, so I have all of the transcripts.

Which tool do you use for this?

  2. 1

Zero. Just me. In season 2. Author podcast. AuthorUncut.com
In some episodes I do add audio clips.

Great stuff, love your niche targeting.

One question, your 'show notes'/'blog'? What is that and how do you do it?

      1. 1

Hi, I simply have a few sentences on what the podcast is about and provide links to anything I've mentioned in the podcast. Shownotes are shown under each episode through my anchor.fm page. I also post to my blog every time I release an episode and include the shownotes there as well. Instead of just 'show notes' why don't you post the whole transcript to your blog (and to medium) so that more people can find you?

and you rank on Google easier

          1. 1

I'm already very active with blog post on my site, as guest poster on other sites (articles on medium).

            1. 1

You could always be more active, by simply using an (edited) transcript you could reach so many people you wouldn't have otherwise.

And you could use a podcast plugin at the top of the Medium article so people could actually listen to your podcast there and then?
