What podcasts do you listen to?
I am running out of podcasts to listen to. Here is my list so far.
- How I Built This: great stories and easy to listen too
- Mixergy Startup Stories: detailed and semi-aggressive interviews
- Y-comb: getting to listen the lectures
- Masters-of-Scale: Great lessons told through story.
- This Week in Startups: listening to JC helps understand venture thoughts. It's very straightforward. Can sometimes be annoying but usually good.
- Side-Hustle Show: A great way to get insight on peculiar business ideas.
- Buffer: Social media tips. Not great but sometimes there is gems.
- Venture Stories: Detailed and academic / policy discussions. It's like listening to a CSPAN sometimes. It's not always dry, there is some entertaining convos.
- Entrepreneur Stories: Similar to IndieHackers.
- 99% invisible: Not directly business related but if you pay attention you can learn the aspects of design that have an immense impact on product.
- Rocketship and Growth Show: Nothing in particular about the podcast. I honestly can't remember which is which. The host (s) are friendly and there is some tips and advice sprinkled into the stories.
- Vergecast: Gives insight in tech news.
- GaryVee: Cannot always listen to his podcasts. I like him, I know people think he is a lot of things but for what it's worth I take and leave what I choose. I treat it as radio psychology. I don't take his input and execute I just think about what he says.
- Social media marketing: Micheal Stelzner puts out really good actionable advice and provides plenty of context.
Pods I like:
- This paranormal life: funny
- Radiolab: entertaining
- Reply All: interesting/funny/entertaining
- Lexicon Valley: education
- Lectures in History: education
- Hidden brain: education/insight
- This American Life: entertaining
- Revisionists History: Malcolm Gladwell great author pretty good podcast. Gives very detailed deconstruction of events I believe helpful in understanding the world around us.

Oh man if you like the indie hackers podcast (I'm assuming you do since you're here) then you would love Startups For the Rest of Us. Indie hackers has to be one of my favorite in the bootstrapping space, and Startups For the Rest of Us is the only one I'd consider just as good. That includes This Week In Startups (I'm not a huge fan of his interviewing style).
So yeah, that's about 400 episodes for you to listen to right there.
But another one along the lines of bootstrapping, and since you like Reply All, you should check out Startup, the podcast started by Alex Bloomberg which followed his starting Gimlet Media. You can hear him interview PJ and Alex for Reply All in it, haha. Later seasons go on to follow other startups.

I just learned that I can actually listen to non-business podcasts while I work. I used to never be able to listen to podcasts while at work, because my mind would start racing about ideas from the podcast, and completely distract me. It was a disaster. But recently I just found that I can listen to entertainment podcasts and not be distracted!
This has been a game changer for me! It really makes my freelance coding time go by a lot quicker. I've been really liking Marc Maron's podcast, and Reply All.
