What questions would you ask new users?
I've had around 50 people sign-up for my SASS product. I want to start getting some feedback from them.
I'm just wondering if anyone else asks users for feedback and what sort of questions you ask?
Any other tips about contacting users are appreciated!
Start a conversation. Ask them what they are using currently to get their job done. What is time-consuming about their current workflow.
Make it personal: mention something about their company you (truly) like.
I did just this recently and it made all the difference.

Did some manual (!) welcome mails for our first couple hundred users back when we launched enziano.
Mostly asked how they found us and where their next hike is planned to, to get a conversation going. Had a decent response rate and found quite a few bugs trough their hints.
We stopped - but we should have automated it (still sending from CEO personal mail) and adapted the question to new topics what we want to learn about our users.
I found that more than two questions are too much, and are mostly ignored!
But seriously, automate it Asap because this is one thing you should be doing from the start and never stop it ... So the time saved trough early automation will pay dividends.

I had planned on having this automated by now but have had other priorities (this is a part time project)
