What’s the last domain you bought?

What's the last domain you bought? Was it for a side project 🚀 Was it a goofy one 🙃 Do you wish you could return it 😭 Last one I bought was ProductNames.co, for a side project. How about you? Let’s get a list going...

  1. 6

    readable.com

Not cheap. Very happy to acquire it when I did, was the right place for us to be.

    1. 1

Nice domain! Great product - am a keen user. Have feedback on the user experience if your team are ever looking to speak to users.

      1. 1

Thanks. Sorry for the slow reply, I don't check in here as often as I'd like. If you're still up for giving some feedback, I'd really appreciate it. Please drop me an email and we'll set something up :)

    2. 1

      Great domain name. Good luck.

      1. 1

I agreed with the seller not to disclose the price, but it was in the ballpark of the market rate for a single word dictionary dotcom.

I did take me 8 years of regular pestering to get them to agree to sell it, and I think they gave me a good deal because they wanted to see someone like us using the domain name.

  2. 5

ZeroToUsers.com, the one I'm working on right now.

    1. 1

"zero to sold" is your inspiration?

      1. 1

Nope, they're totally different projects. Lots of "zero to" projects here on IH :) Mine focuses on acquisition channels that repeatedly work for founders.

  3. 4

    StoryModel.com

Short for "story model of purpose": an idea I've drawn from writing fiction and studying various cognitive sciences that the key to living a good life is to live a good story.

Bought the domain recently but won't have time to build and work on it until 2021. It'll be a blog and newsletter on how to live meaningfully in the modern secular world. And eventually it should serve as content marketing for fiction stories.

    1. 3

This is pretty cool, I daydream myself sometimes about writing fiction based on real life - a nice long term goal I suppose 😄

  4. 4

    VirtualMojito.com

Virtual = virtual experiences, events, teams etc

Mojito = who don't like Mojito?

  5. 3

    I bought howtogm.com and howtogm.guide last night.

I am going to create a short, opinionated, step by step guide to get people from 0 experience to running their first one-shot Dungeons and Dragons game in just a couple hours.

Aiming to have something up there by mid-October. If I see enough interest in the guide, I have several ideas to monetize.

  6. 3

    wunderops.com

Still not decided what I'm gonna make using this domain, but certainly it's related to devops

  7. 3

getmage.io -> for my current project, our magical pricing software 😁

  8. 3

I bought DearMars.com after I heard Elon Musk announce DearMoon project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seLIoTJ2VXY.

Now, I don't know what do with it. Thought about building a one page site and sell t-shirts to all the people who are excited about Mars.

    1. 1

Lots of possibilities! What are your plans for it?

      1. 1

I brought to make a easy drop and share file app. I am not sure if it's a good name.

        1. 1

          I think it’s got potential!

  9. 3

openstartup.dev, a collection of open startups and their metrics

  10. 3

    MeetLama.com 🦙

The side project I'm working on with @tibozaurus , visit our web or our product page , we need your feedback!

    1. 1

      any reason you misspelled llama?

      1. 2

Thanks for asking! I am Italian , @tibozaurus is French, in our languages it is just “LAMA” , plus, there is a secret “hack” in the naming since LAM stands for Less Annoying Meetings.

  11. 3

    So... monthlystart.com 🚀

    Working on it right now!

  12. 3

    lostinsaas.com

Planning to blog about my trials and tribulations learning to build SaaS products 🙈

  13. 3

    poost.org

😁 Not in use yet, but will be a blogging platform as part of my website builder.

      1. 1

        It sounds weird 😁

The shortened form of the word "Poosta." Used when...when it just feels right. - Poost on urbandictionary

  14. 2

    indiethinkers.com

Bought it for a side project but I've put it on the back burner.

  15. 2

    actionfirstinbox.com

A feature-specific part of our email client.

  16. 2

My personal email / blog domain:

    kyle.news & [email protected]😂

    Also recently got:

    content.exposed for a side project when I've got socialimage.app on auto-pilot.

  17. 2

seelink.app, the one I'm working on right now.

  18. 2

startblock.io for a new side project of a planning tool I'm starting up!

    1. 1

Oops, even more recently I bought notesyncer.com

  19. 2

pbt.im - I used it to create URL shortener.

  20. 2

    wordsful.com
I hesitated, it kinda sounds like worse-ful, but it is easy to remember. 😄

  21. 2

    Newsletter.ist

it's a newsletter reading platform for both android and ios. :)

  22. 2

Recent purchases include fuckyousunday.com and simplybetter.dev, both purchased in the train while travelling to countryside. Lost the project ideas behind those names in the meantime

  23. 2

The last domain I brought is spookey.io & is for a product I am releasing soon

  24. 2

    www.serverlatency.com
If u try using that free service, make sure u add http:// or https://

  25. 2

    https://thesoul.app

A UX research toolkit to assess user cognitive load using just a webcam.

    Still on the feasibility phase.

  26. 2

Arrvsp.com (which I’ve now let go): was supposed to be a pirate-themed event planner.

Kahoop.com: which I’m not sure what to use for. Yet.

Covertsanta.com which will be an online secret santa app

  27. 2

    https://www.lido.app/

… currently for building out a new no-code data reporting tool!

  28. 2

lofi.page, planning to make a really simple lofi radio station on the page sometime soon.

  29. 2

www.michaelneedle.com for my personal site and www.artwerks.io for a new side project.

  30. 2

Dappress.com - For writing about decentralized web, Dapps, Blockchains, Crypto Etc. Or make blogging platform for it. Or some like Dapps curated lists

  31. 2

It's DEAhunter.com which stands for Disposable Email Hunter. It's a no-code side project born out by the need to protect the email list and website from spammy disposable/temporary emails.

The best part is that is completely created without a code, and I am utilizing my own product Automatio.co (which is a no-code web automation tool) + Google Sheet + Zapier.

  32. 2

    https://pocketrocket.fit
Wanted to make a fitness app that i could use on my phone or on a desktop.
Pocketrocket = someone who is small fast and energetic 🏋️

  33. 2

frontfigure.com , the project I am currently building (still under construction).
I just had many options, but wanted a .com , so this was the only one available from my favorite options

  34. 2

The last domain I bought was https://puto.link

I want to create a URL shortener service with public/private links and with real-time notifications about who clicked (location, device type...)

  35. 2

    welds.ca

no plan for it, but as an engineer it called out to me

  36. 2

the first domain I bought was in 1998
    ecommercenow.com

    1. 2

Whoa! Ever used it for anything?

  37. 2

Recently bought g2g.to as another short domain to be used in T.LY link shortener. It’s not a great domain but it’s short and gives users additional short domains. I plan to continue adding additional short domains to the service.

  38. 2

openmetrics.link, idea: basically a dashboard for the open startup movement, you see all these '/open' paths with founding teams sharing information. That, but integrate with the payments systems, analytics (web traffic), etc. Maybe provide an api to allow data to sent over to the dashboard.

Rough ideas. May or may not build.

  39. 2

bl4.xyz, a short URL domain name for boostlane.com

  40. 2

QueryStash.com the project I'm currently working on.

  41. 2

ytub.link - Prettier links for youtube channels

  42. 2

    curashion.com (curated fashion): $1k
    drowp.com: $500
    Both side projects :)

    1. 1

Hey! Your product page looks VERY similar to the one from GOAT.

      1. 1

"VERY"? Pretty irrelevant to be honest, maybe just our price list looking like their sizes but the rest has clearly nothing to do with Goat. If that's what you think then all product pages in the world look similar to you, images on the left, title and prices on the right lol...

    2. 1

Some pages are not displaying: https://curashion.com/product/bottega-veneta-the-chain-pouch-9467/

Error: Unknown column 'stores.currency' in 'field list'

Can I ask you how you find affiliate deals? It looks like you use affiliate links...

      1. 1

Thanks for spotting the issue, I have fixed it, those product pages are not indexed though as our main target is category pages such as: https://curashion.com/shop/mens-designer-espadrilles/

Indeed we use affiliate links from many different Affiliate networks: Rakuten, FlexOffers, CJ, Skimlinks,...
Merchants don't offer the same rate across networks so it's always wise to compare the rates and use the highest.

      2. 1

I don't use affiliate links, but many programs are out there. Just depends on what you're looking for

        1. 1

Oops, sorry! Not a question for me

        2. 1

I'm not looking for affiliate programs, I'm just curious about your business model and how you website will make money if you are simply redirecting users to various stores... Just trying to learn about business models I may not know about.

  43. 2

ProductMarketHit.com - for a side project that might become something more than a side project (but, I suppose that's true of them all!)

  44. 2

    BrianHasCancer.com
I'm not a bummer, I swear. I looked it up though, and that was the last one. I have a notebook page of others I want/need that are more cheerful :)

  45. 2

    fullyhacked.io and .com 😂

I wanted to start blogging about full stack development and was going to use that domain, but I ultimately decided to start blogging under my own name at https://www.diegodlt.info/

    1. 2

Think you made the right choice, personal branding goes a long way. Really nice looking site!

  46. 2

    heyuser.xyz

Any guess what would it do?

  47. 2

viberad.io - it's the first domain I've bought that uses the extension as part of the name :)

    1. 1

      A domain hack, cool!

  48. 2

    remoteful.com
That's at least the last "cool" one I got, in my opinion. Not sure yet what to do with it, I have a couple of ideas.

  49. 2

A bunch of cheap .xyz domains to work on the custom domain feature of my project.

  50. 2

OrgPad.com, it is our startup we are working on for last 1.5 years (and thinking about for several years before that). We really liked the name and couldn't come up with anything good which would be free. So we spend $3000 in December 2019 and bought the domain. Hopefully we get the money back eventually 😁

  51. 2

    nicgetkate.com

Just wanted to have a personal website. Definitely the best $7 I’ve spent 😂

    1. 1

✨ Slick! What did you use to build it?

      1. 1

Used Carrd to create the entire page, then for the image, I used OpenPeeps!

        1. 1

Nice! Love your newsletter by the way

  52. 2

    meetBrew.com

I am building BREW - delightfully 'simple' invoicing application for freelancers - something which i wish exists for me as a Freelancer. Packed with powerful features to help you gain control of all your financial activities at a single place as a freelancer. And we are launching very soon!

  53. 2

randomforme.com for some silly random generators

    1. 1

      Your site is awesome 😆

  54. 2

gratitudejournal.co - hoping to use it for an upcoming side project!

    1. 1

Nice name, lots of potential! Have a specific idea for it yet?

      1. 1

probably an email/text based take on the physical paper forms of a gratitude journal. something like a daily email asking what you're grateful for. thoughts?

        1. 1

          Like it, valuable daily reminder

  55. 2

    Unicornsfeed.com

It was difficult because I wanted a different one...

  56. 2

    podspect.io

semi-abandoned idea to help podcasters find advertisers.

  57. 2

JoinCrafted.com - For my latest project, a newsletter around craft beer.

    1. 3

Let's chat! I'm working on exactly the same thing...

  58. 2

Jobscreener.work Want to build a AI job focused saas there, not had time to do that though.

  59. 2

letterstack.co and I actually built something on it and launched before having another idea buying another domain name 😄

    1. 1

Super descriptive for what you’re doing!

  60. 2

vision.sh, it was for monitoring service, but that project is a bit on hold.

  61. 2

hak.to A constructive and inclusive social network for hackers
just bought it and launched the landing page.

  62. 2

ActivePrice.co, literally just bought it and launched the landing page. Really exciting time for us!

  63. 2

    dharisanam.in

Planned on blog and product related to south of India regional culture. But could not devise a proper business plan for monetization, so stopped it at early stage.

  64. 2

notionware.shop - I just launched an ecommerce store for fans of the Notion app 🖤

    1. 1

This comment was deleted 2 years ago.

  65. 2

I think the last one I bought was usepow.com, it simply redirects to usepow.app my current passion project; A privacy-first menstrual cycle journal.

I am on a self-imposed buying freeze as I own almost 70 domains and trying hard to give some up.

  66. 2

ShopFloor365.com - but have not started any work on this domain yet.

  67. 2

    sleia.com

I almost forgot this one and now when I see that cheap registrar has put up low quality ads on it.

    1. 1

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear/read menulib.com?

If you have time please give me feedback via here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/what-is-the-first-thing-that-comes-to-your-mind-when-you-hear-read-menulib-65f9025d64

  69. 2

siteoly.com - Coding the NoCode tool for Google sheets

    1. 1

How long have you been working on this product? how much time it took you to build this product? Hope you wouldn't mind answering these....

      1. 1

Yeah, Np. Its kind of close to 4 months since I started. But I am also working on my other product https://hashforms.com in parallel. And a couple of other ideas on and off.

  70. 2

    https://communian.com
After all the hassle with WeWork and meetup :)

  71. 2

    Inoffice.chat for my current project

  72. 2

    appsforfreelancers.com
I don't even remember why I bought it lol

    1. 1

Is it because it sounds nice? 😁

  73. 2

    manylogs.com
Building a tool to record & replay api calls for mobile apps.

    1. 1

Hey man. I just wanted to gift some feedback, I hope this unsolicited advice is welcome! 🙏 After looking at the site, and watching the front-and-centre video, I think this service is visually beautiful and legit. It clearly does something, I'm just not sure what it does! It's right on the tip of my brain, but I don't quite understand. Happy to share more thoughts if you want, and congrats on the revenue.

      1. 1

Thank you for your feedback, Conferfly is a tool for businesses mostly enterprise.
it helps to join video calls (zoom, meet, teams, etc) from conference rooms.

  74. 2

    idontknowhowtocode.com

Just for fun - haven't done anything with it yet 😁

    1. 2

      Maybe a nocode blog?

      1. 2

Could be - we'll see when I get around to it haha

  75. 1

Try to use the logic gate code for your program. I have tested the same script for my website of weldlover, you can see here https://weldlover.com/
