I’ll start. Reddit communities with < 1000 subscribers. They are usually lax about self promotion and the subscribers are most likely passionate about the topic.
Your turn
Quora is absolutely massive. It takes a bit of work to figure out how the algorithm sorts answers and how to tap into the huge market. But once you find out how it works, it's very easy to reach 10,000+ people a day - for free, with just 1 piece of content.
Actually wrote a blog post about that recently where I share what I learned, so you don't have to waste the same 4 weeks that I wasted to figure out how it works. Link here -> https://noisecutters.com/how-to-get-1500000-views-3400-sign-ups-on-quora/

What exactly does a 'good strategy' for PH look like?
Working on a blog post right now actually that describes my strategy.
Short: Create a catchy title, description and thumbnail image. Add additional images or videos. Add a comment. Get someone with followers to hunt it for you
Post between 12-1am Silicon Valley time (when ProductHunt resets)
Send email to everyone on your user list
Share in FB groups, Slack groups, Telegram groups, write milestone on IndieHackers, write tweets, get your network involved
Aim for top 5 because you'll be featured in the newsletter the next day (unless you post on Fri, Sat, Sun, because they get mixed with Mon's newsletter)
Thanks for the nuggets of information.
Wow, thank you - this is a prefect blueprint.

Flipboard has worked well for in the past few years, I think it's on a bit of a decline now.
Does Flipboard offer the option for you to post on it? I thought it was exclusively a news website.
You can create your own magazines, eg. - https://flipboard.com/@rosiesherry/ministry-of-testing-87epnnl5y
We use a Chrome extension to easily add/bookmark content. We've posted general
testing related content with our own content mixed in.
This is a first, I thought this app died long time ago. But did it work mostly for news ?
Pinterest
Indie Hackers :)
I would also say reddit.
But I could add Dev.to
LinkedIn has also been amazing for us (Ministry of Testing).
In the early days it was a group that we created that drove many new members to our community, that was 10 years ago.
These days it is the LinkedIn company page that is doing great for us.
Going above and beyond for your users. I can't tell you how many long email replies I've wrote and that user has went on to recommend my site to all their friends etc ...
For certain markets, Pinterest can provide insane traffic.
Do you mind elaborating on that. How could a SaaS utilize Pinterest? Or do you have to be making something more physical to get good traffic?
It defintely works great for physical products.
But for SaaS I've also seen it used via sharing design of your product, or people using it.
I.e. Adobe shares images made using Adobe suite products. So for website builders, designers, etc. - it's a great way to get traffic.
Reaching out to your personal network of friends. 2nd degree even and asking for an intro.
