What startup books do you recommend I read over the holidays?
If you know of any books that offer good practical strategies for a complete beginner. Not looking for anything where the advice assumes you have unlimited money and resources or a huge following. It’s difficult to know what reviews online are true or fake or if people are just repeating what others have said. I’m looking for honest opinions from people who have read the book and implemented the advice or at least think the advice is good, please.
My goal for 2023 is to start working on something seriously in my spare time – a side project that will turn into a startup essentially. Not looking for hacks or money overnight. Really want to build something worthwhile.
I’m currently running a podcast that I love but can’t see how I can scale it. It would be cool if I could build something that ties in with the podcast, but also considering starting something completely separate. I guess it depends on what advice I get from the books I read.

I have read 'The Lean Startup' and 'Hacking Growth: How Today's Fastest-Growing Companies Drive Breakout Success'. I would highly recommend those!
I, myself, is reading 'Shoe Dog', which is a biography about how Nike was invented. Really inspiring!

The Mom test is a really good book. It’s definitely for beginners and will help you assess whether your ideas are worth pursuing. It made me completely write off several ideas I thought were good – I know this sounds bad – but it’s good to know sooner rather than later whether you’ve got something viable.

You should check out The $100 Startup. It sounds like just what you are looking for as many of the case studies are of people who started a side hustle and turned it into a startup. It’s the only startup book I found helpful at the very beginning of my journey as it wasn’t full of jargon like many of the other startup books out there.
The Minimalist Entrepreneur: How Great Founders Do More with Less by Sahil Lavingia.
A good take on sustainable entrepreneurship.
I recommend this as well!! It provides a step-by-step approach to building an online-business. It'll also help you avoid many of the pitfalls made by people new to indie hacking.
