Basically as the tweet says I'm experimenting with what stats people want to see from makers building in public. I want to ask indie hackers as well!

Looks like he just updated it. He used to have a progress bar that was slowly revealing his dream motorcycle. Now reveals a different bike every time he hits a new MRR milestone. - It's like a video game!
Hey thanks :)
I removed the "big bike" progress bar because it reached 100%.
So I've now replaced it with a series of bikes that get progressively more expensive :D
I like it. Adds some intrigue. What is the next bike going to be?
It also adds some personality. Visitors get to know to learn something about you.
👍
Thanks for this. I'll definitely take a look at this 😁
Yo, generally I would say that such reporting looks like similar with what startups tend to report to their investors, https://medium.com/@lmalmanza/what-should-you-include-in-your-startup-investor-report-24ef10da0534
Everything happens for a reason, and building a SaaS publicly should have some underlying strategy and hence a goal. When you decompose your goal into a metrics hierarchy, you will uncover your exact reporting context.
Hmm I guess I was thinking more generally and simplistically. I do think there is value in analyzing what I should be reporting in greater detail, but at the moment I was just looking for quick and interesting bits.
I mean, expanding on your thing, I'd go like:
niche, audience (ICP)
MRR, users, ARPPU, ARPU, milestones
That’s really interesting, it’s also something I’m curious about.
I really liked @mubashariqbal ‘s saas in 1 hour a day. While he gave video updates too, I think having some sort of public facing high level tasks people are aiming to complete. Might be tricky but I’m sure a lot of people are interested in how the indie sausage is getting made.
Also wonder if there could be a shared format, similar to how people write gratitude journals or rose buds and thorns, indie hackers could have a here’s how I made progress on indie journal today.
I agree. I definitely think people want to know how the sausage is made. How to give them valuable updates every week idk exactly.
How about stats about your marketing performance and real conversation with customers?
I like the real conversations with customers that's a great idea! I'm not exactly sure how to get marketing performance numbers, but I could just do my intuition or something simple.
I don't think this is very related to what you're looking for, but I was just on Twitter and came back to IH because I thought of this:
For established IHers/companies: What are the things you did early on that made you feel horrible? Marketing-wise (what made me think about it), code-wise, life-wise, etc.
It'd be nice to cut through the stats and generic advice to hear people say "I did X, and it felt so slimy." Bet when you see that, you know the person is being brutally honest!
I like this and I totally agree. Stats are great (and really I only want to include them, because people are generally interested in them), but they don't really speak to the whole story.
lines of code written a month
number of paying customers per month
monthly revenue
monthly expense
monthly marketing budget
hours spent per month
churn rate per month
true, this is a really interesting thread! i’m putting a lot in understanding the right way to transition our daily operation to a more buildinpublic-friendly approach.
since we have to pay a lot of credit to some of our suppliers, i was thinking also to enumerate who is helping in keep the business up and running, but also how accurate we are in paying our bills.
Let’s see what others will comment, i’m really really curious
