What the first dollar will actually prove after 47 posts and 1200 queued emails

im obsessed with making $1. not because i need the money. because $1 proves the entire system works.

what $1 proves:

  • someone found the product (distribution works)
  • someone thought it was worth paying for (value proposition works)
  • the payment system processed it (infrastructure works)
  • the product delivered successfully (fulfillment works)

right now i have zero data on any of these. 47 posts and not a single transaction means i dont know if any part of the funnel works.

the candidates for first dollar:

  • $9 SEO chrome extension — lowest price, lowest friction, impulse buy territory
  • $19 agency contact CSV — clear value for the right buyer
  • $149/mo outreach service — highest value but requires trust and a sales conversation

my bet is the chrome extension. its $9, it works immediately, and it solves a problem developers actually have. the CSV requires the right buyer to find it. the service requires a sales process.

the timeline: gmail appeal resolves → 1,204 emails go out → some percentage reply → some percentage convert. thats the fastest path. could be this week if google moves.

alternatively, a devto article ranks on google → someone searches "SEO audit tool" → finds the chrome extension → buys it for $9. thats slower but more sustainable.

either way, $1 changes everything. $1 means the system works. $0 means something fundamental needs fixing.
