Hello everyone.
Last week, I launched my first project ever on Twitter. It received a very humble 150 views and 20 signs up within the first 2 days, which I'm grateful for.
A week has gone by, and my view dropped to < 10 views/day.
What should I do to get more users? I'm very new to marketing and would love to learn more about it. Thank you.
A little background about the project, just in case it helps: it's a utility web app that users use infrequently (based on need). It has a basic landing page and 0 marketing effort. The only thing I did was tweeting about it and had someone with a decent followings retweeted.
Keep the flame alive, don't let it die down.
Keep tweeting. Keep sharing. Look for other places online that may be interested in what you are doing.
Look to see where other competitors are getting their tools listed/mentioned, see if you can too.
I'm guessing marketing and blogging types would be interested in the tool, figure out where they hang out, go hang with them.
For this particular product, since users post to social media through it, you could do something like what Marc does with tweet.photo "via tweet.photo", maybe only add it when it's a tweet storm on the last tweet?
Make it visible to the user so they can delete it (or make removing it a premium feature).
I know for a fact there are a bunch of people on twitter who want a nice thread editing/scheduling experience without the hassle of Buffer/Hootsuite.
Maybe start writing some blog posts that people like that would find interesting. Just keep doing one small thing every day (or every week) and it will add up long term.
Thanks Hugo for some advice. I understand the viral effect of social media, but I don't want to my app to be obtrusive. The intent of the app is to help people, and I just want people to use and enjoy it.
