What to do with a 100k user base in a niche ?

https://web.archive.org/web/20180519011227/https://cexybot.io/

Hello,

Sharing one of the best experiences i've made, still not monetized before it was shutdown anyway ... And asking for your recommendations.

Back in 2018, i've launched cexybot.io (website is down, here's what it looked like: https://web.archive.org/web/20180519011227/https://cexybot.io/), it's a cool and smart Slack bot serving as a cryptocurrency trading assistant, extremely useful for Slack teams in this niche.

The bot name (cexy) took me 2 months of email discussions with the Slack moderation team to accept it into their bot public marketplace, they said such a name can offense some users, it was a long trip until i got my bot into the marketplace, shorter trip until it was fired off of it ...

What happened ?

My bot were collecting user emails (with their consent), serving around 1300 slack teams and ~100k active users, it needed user emails for many functional reasons: email notification on market and position changes, identifying same user through multiple teams, etc ...

I've also pushed marketing emails for the bot's new features, although this was only for the bot and not for any third party products, Slack moderation did not appreciate it and alerted me, caring about my bot's reputation i've promised to stop any marketing emails, some weeks later they just announced they are firing my bot off of their marketplace.

There were no open doors for discussing their decision, i really did not appreciate the way they handled my case:

-- From Slack:
Hi zfou,

I'm writing to let you know that we've had to permanently remove your app's listing from the Slack App Directory. We have received numerous complaints about unsolicited emails and unnecessarily sexually suggestive dialog from your app, issues which had been raised multiple times in the past. This type of behaviour isn't acceptable for apps in our directory, so its listing will no longer be made available in the App Directory.

-- My response:
Dear ...,

I’m shocked reading your email, Cexy did not receive any feature update since (4 months) and no emails were sent at all.

I doubt you are basing your decision on wrong source of information and this is not fair at all, i can welcome and accept your decision if you have any proof of anything you are telling.

I rely on your objectiveness to make such decisions.

-- From Slack:
Hi zfou,

Unfortunately this matter isn't up for discussion — the decision we made about your app is final. Regarding the complaints made about your app, these aren't anything we can share with a third-party but I can assure you we would not take this action without considering it carefully.

Were having +5 new teams per day, after getting fired, went down to +2 new teams per week and decided to shut it down days later.

What's up now ?

I'm now let with the bot and it's user DB, i don't know what to do with it.
I'm not selling the DB for someone willing to spam it with his marketing stuff, although i got many offers from the crypto world.
I'm looking to restart a new startup taking full profit of such an experience, the user base is extremely valuable, it is containing crypto-trading niche users.

What can you suggest ?

Give it a new home. Build a front end for it on another platform such as telegram and email all users to let them know where it is now?
