What topics would provide you with the most value?
Hi guys, I recently started a blog about my personal experience with overcoming depression by using my cognitive processes to trick my brain into happiness. Hi Katarina! I haven't struggled with depression, so it's hard for me to say. But my suggestion is to consider using an SEO tool like SEMrush or Moz to do some keyword research.
They have a "related keywords" feature that might help you come up with topics ideas that you wouldn't have considered on your own. The result is you'll write more posts that align with what people are searching for, the problems they have, and the questions they want answered. As a bonus, your posts might rank more highly on Google, which means you'll reach more people, which is one of the best ways to provide more value to the world. 👍
Also, a lot of founders struggle with depression and loneliness. Would be great to see more written on that topic!
Hi Courtland, thanks for the insightful advice! I have used keyword research, but I thought it might be more substantive to ask people outright. I know a lot of creatives and thinkers deal with mental health issues and I've found Indie Hackers to be extremely supportive which is why I wanted to reach out on the community board. Don't worry about writing content that sells, I highly recommend writing about stuff that excites and that you are you are expert in.
Put out an article a week, your audience starts growing and then you'll be able to ask from them what they want to read more about. It's hard to guess at this point.

Wow - thank you so much for this thoughtful response! These are actually fantastic ideas. I'm probably going to use one of these topics for my next article! The puzzle piece navigation is also a great idea. I'm a bit of a noob with WordPress and have a pre-made theme so I'm not sure how easily I can manipulate such graphics, but it's definitely something for me to try.
