Make a serious upgrade to my landing page for log.fm. It was super satisfying because now I actually give info about the site and give a value proposition.

FYI: log.fm helps you follow podcasters as they appear on shows around the web AND create you own podcast playlists. Either public or private.

I set up a development environment for my project and now I can test my new features without fear to break everything

For Zlappo:

• Closed 2 partnerships, one with a app deal site and another with a Twitter influencer (200k+ followers)

We launched our Early Access program for Clap! I spent the past year learning about React to build the site from scratch while I was working on the product and I'm super proud of how it came out.

I was an iOS engineer by day, so I always tried to avoid CSS (and web in general) but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it now.

It's helped me to learn how to get out of my comfort zone and not to be afraid to start something from the beginning.

For me it's getting my third customer for http://whichnocodetool.com/

I believe the reason it's doing well is that busy Founders who are spending time focussing on actively recruiting their first customers, doing strategic partnerships and selling into a trusted network want to be able to prove to themselves or investors that they can bring their idea to life.

My book is almost entirely proofread, I'll be ready for a soft launch on Monday. The returns from my subscribers are pure gold. So many helped me, that's insane.

I've spend so much time on this book, but I'm so happy! I want to write a book for sooo long.

I got a new paid user for https://nocodechart.xyz/ and a few beta testers for the airtable integration.

I've got the first 12 beta testers using https://firelab.io. Most importantly they're getting value from the product and providing insightful feedback.

Lesson: it's exponentially easier to get users when you're targeting a market where you already have an audience and/or strong network. If you don't have an audience, then building one long before you launch a product is so important.

I released an MVP for a new app of mine called QuikPub (https://quikpub.co/) on Thursday. 44 hours of development spread over two weeks.

Yesterday I posted to Hacker News and languished in shownew for a few hours going nowhere, until I emailed Dang and asked for a little assistance. He bumped me onto the lower front page and I saw some good traffic and feedback throughout the night.

Very happy with the result. The lesson here I think is to ask for what you want, and not to sit idle waiting for things to happen.

We had our first sale! We're going to take care of this client like how we care for our mothers. ✨

Finally got 5 students enrolled in zerotopatent.com! The last 2 students came completely organically. Google ads have been expensive and have been slightly negative ROI.

Zerotopatent.com is a course that teaches anyone to write their own patents.

We are currently in our pilot phase for our AI social media assistant and we got our first paying user 💖

📙 What we learned along the way?

We shared our learnings in this post. But one thing I want to highlight is this:

A startup isn’t a race; it’s a journey. Success comes from enjoying the journey, not from racing to the finish.

more reminders on focus and staying the course, despite hiccups on the plan.

but also being open to changing course when needed. ... an example of this was internally changing my mind about hiring someone new last week to this week... where i'm not planning on it. telling my team was important though and making sure they understand this change of heart.

communication is leadership.

I had a big realization that one of the things that I do well that I could get hired for is hosting online meetings and events. I'd started doing end of life ceremonies - but I think that's not going to be enough to fill my funnel and lead me to the promised land - so, I've decided to open things up a bit.

My first move was to schedule a bunch of free fried-dating type events for my friends in Portland and various FB groups. We'll see where this goes!

I got some really good feedback from reddit on a project I'm currently working on.

I did nothing this month yet and won $20 patreon pledge because someone recommended my blog.
While last month I actively promoted it I lost $2 :(
Typical internet I guess.

Made the first iteration for the educational course I plan to launch: landing page design and program draft.
Launched my day job product on PH, #3, though been on the first place all day long.

Submitted v0.2 of DetoxBox, my Gmail productivity extension for bulk unsubscription. Once Google approves it, I'll start promoting it.

Got my second power user for houndreminders.com.

I posted about my products early access on facebook and got 3 more users!

Just deployed my latest side project snoostickers.com - a simple web app that accepts a users's snoovatar url and shows what it'd be like if it was printed on stickers, badges, mugs etc.

Got the idea cos when I saw my girlfriend's snoovatar I wanted it as a sticker for my laptop. Zazzle has an api that I can use and get commission on referrals, with Valentines around the corner perhaps it gets a little traffic, who knows.

It's an automated newsletter about night sky observation.
I learned that is important to have in mind the big picture of the projects and not force yourself into a too tight developing road.
There are many different ways to reach the Moon :)

Well – after leaving my job last Friday, I got my first full time week working on a product I've only been able to poke at since March while having a day job. I was anticipating a spring release but at this rate, look at launching this month!

Started writing my backend app, I have a really messy one from prototyping so I've been porting some of that logic to a NodeJS + Typescript app with some optimization strategies and everything has been smooth as butter! Hoping to finish the backend by mid next week (I'm choosing to stay on the 9-5 clock to keep in sync w/ my partner and to maintain work/life balance). Also ramping up to start some freelance work to keep the product (and my life) funded.

Got an article published on the Shopify blog (been about 3 months coming). It hasn’t given us a big spike, but I think it will be good for authority in the space.

I think we're the first one to implement Brexit changes on my ecom platform for Belgian Beers ( belgianbrewed.com ). We already had deliveries before during Brexit to the UK with patient customers ( trial).

Also had an interesting bug that was fixed shortly afterwards, which we didn't catch during testing. But it's all ok now.

I wrote my first post of the year. After a break of four months. 🥳

Wrote a full-blown post about the why and how of revamping my landing.

I had a blog post ride on the front page of HN for about 18 hours last weekend. That was a significant spike. I also compared the analytics from Google and my own server logs.

It would appear that for the 48 hour period that I analyzed, Google reported ~12,000 visitors. My weblogs say about 27,000.

My takeaway is that a little more than half are using some kind of ad blocker that prevented google from tracking. (And quite right, too!)

That netted about 1000 visits and 20 new signups. (2% conversion rate?)

This week's wins for Boostlane.com:

• Added a new slogan to the home page: We are Explorers! We uncover Products, Services and The News
• Improved how information is matched with shopping ads. There is still a lot to do to get that algorithm right and match offers with what people are interested in.
• Improved the server settings to make the site even faster and more resilient
• Removed more than 100 000 posts that were not in the most popular topics
• Added 4 blogs to the newsfeed (we share relevant posts from their home page)
• Was accepted by 4 affiliate program partners to promote their offers
• Added an expiry date feature to the shopping ads so special offers can disappear automatically
• Improved the algorithm for moderating and organizing posts, although there is still a lot of room for improvement
• Improved the algorithm that identifies topics, selects hashtags and keywords
• Improved the algorithm that identifies relevant posts on blogs that the website watches
• Another 20 followers on Twitter

Just a normal week on top of clients' work.

For the first time, I tried working on a feature and logging it as #buildinpublic trend. As we all follow to, I shipped the new "Track your progress" feature to Learningin.tech project.

It was fun doing it on Twitter.
