Hello!
I'm the founder of www.joinsecret.com. We haven't yet worked on our SEO but I see some other bootstrappers/early stage business having amazing results with SEO. We're new to that. What in your opinion should we do to start off? Thanks for your replies! Cheers
From the homepage, I’m not even sure what your product is.
As somebody who has worked with some of the top saas and software companies on their SEO, I’d love to know more about how you get users now,
Revenue, and other channels you’re leveraging, before saying SEO would it wouldn’t work well for you.
Hi Edourard,
the short answer is yes, scalable and (relatively) free traffic is something that would help you to grow. And as an SEO consultant I couldn't say the opposite.
The longer answer should be personalized on your product and the resources you can put in place.
Personas
You should identify who your customers are and what they want, I know you'd say "entrepreneurs", but what kind of entrepreneurs? what's their problem? what are how are you helping them with?
Identify what are their goals and how your solution match with that.
Keyword research
With your problems and solutions in mind, identify which topics related to that are the most important for your audience. Once you have the topics, create some educational guides around these.
Look at this webinar: https://www.256content.com/content-academy-live-francesco-baldini
Type of content
The personas you have also help you to figure out what type of content you should develop. The following is a list that can guide you, you don't have to create all of them, but they are a support to a conversion:
Content area
Move the blog to a sub-folder rather than a sub domain.
Use a content area for your pages, not necessarily in a blog format and organize them based on their type and how they relate with others.
Here an interesting recent case study https://samuelschmitt.com/topic-cluster/ but also have a look at other different type of structure https://www.contentharmony.com/blog/content-hubs/
Current customers
If you're happy with your current customer base, follow this process to reach more of them: https://learninbound.com/blog/how-to-find-content-ideas-sell/
Backlinks
Create/improve your current relationships to get backlinks (to start with).
This is a very generic outline, but you should start with understating your customers and replicate. Traffic is very important, but base your strategy on conversion & micro conversion rather than just traffic.
Hope it helps,
Francesco
