What would you change?

What would you change in your startup building journey if you could go back in time?

I wish I had focused on marketing my startup’s https://www.towel.studio products earlier. As a technical founder, I started by coding and making proofs of concepts, which took months of my time. I switched to off-the-shelf software for our e-commerce platform instead and the first orders and partnerships are coming in.

I guess nothing, maybe it wouldn't have gotten to this point if I it took another direction.

The target audience I can sell https://monitup.com to is a very small and boring business.

I would create a fun product that everyone would want to use. I'm sure it would be easier to sell!

If you are making money, why not just sell the business and dedicate your time to another product? Why are you going to be stuck in a business you don't like?

      1. 2

Selling it off to focus on a new product is a good idea.

        You are 100% correct.

Fabri, you are so right about that.

When MonitUp got to the MVP level, I started looking for a co-founder. The idea was good, people showed a lot of interest, but MonitUp wasn't worth much because MonitUp had no customers.

So I decided to gain some customers, level up MMR and sell MonitUp. That's why I'm trying to learn sales and marketing as a software developer.

The second reason is that I am developing this project alone. Apart from this project, I am a full-time employee and I do freelance work for different companies. So I have very limited time and resources. That's why I can't get into big projects, it's a little hard to find good ideas that only one person can do :(

At what MRR are you right now?

Are you sure is there a need for this tool? If so, how did you validate it?

Lastly, here on IndieHackers go to Products, then filter the solo founders and then bootstraped. There you have hundreds of business made by one person without any funding. The limitations are inside your head. I'm sure you can get rid of them!

I have just sold 3 LifeTime Deal licenses through AppSumo. So just MMR $0, I can make my first monthly sale in a few weeks. A customer is currently testing MonitUp.

I'm a technical guy, so I have a lot of shortcomings in analysis and research. So I didn't do much research before releasing the product, I liked the idea and jumped headfirst into the project... So I didn't validate.

You're really right about the limits, I'll look into that and think about it...

Seems I haven't got the ability to report spam. Why bother dropping this hyper local advertisement somewhere so irrelevant that it'll never be any use

EDIT Seems people have an Exclamation beside their profile's name so there is a way to report them
