$1000 just dropped in your lap.
The only catch is, you have to use it for your business/side project.
What do you do?
#ask-ih
Spend it all on ads :)
We have development covered, so we would love to get more eyeballs on the product.
However I would test local communities see if there is any opportunities with them. Prefer my money going to them if it's profitable.
https://10words.io/ by @luckybamboo got me more clicks than facebook could.
I'm sure other newsletters/podcasts/websites could do the same.
Thank you for sharing about 10words!
No problem great site created by an IH :)
I am completely unbiased but I agree it's a great site 🙃
A giveaway likely to attract my target customers with the goal to collect emails and gain social media follower (more interested in the emails). Let's say that you have a marketing related product.
I would buy a year of ahref subscribtion. . This kind of giveaway won't attract spam users like an amazon gift would. It is extremely valuable only for people that do marketing for a living or do marketing on their own business (my target user).
I would use kingsumo for the giveaway and add additional entries to people that share my giveaway via email and like my social pages. Then promote the giveaway on marketing related subreddit, websites and facebook groups. I could easily get hundreds of emails, no ads can compare to these results.
You can do it for basically every business/product.
I would also look at giveaway/contest or similar influence marketing to tap the correct audience. In our early stage getting the right user and talking is proving more important than getting lots of users.
Like this idea of giving away something that would only be valuable to your target customers.
My example is probably the worst case scenario.
If you are good at getting customers attention, you can convince companies to gove away their product for free and spend money advertising the giveaway.
Best case scenario, If you have product/market fit, is offering your own solution. It is something that requires more traction and wanted to give an advice that everybody could follow.
Give my dev team a bonus!! :)
I'd try to get a 30 minute/1 hour meeting with a very successful person entrepreneur or business person in the industry my business was in
Give a raise to my current editorial assistant and add another team member. I really need a recipe developer!
Spend it all sponsoring a single well known and high traffic website / blog.
Spend it all on ads
What type of ads? Facebook, Google, Instagram?
I would split the budget personally, drop $200 on each platform and create custom campaigns for each.
Search (kw) 200
Display (retargeting mostly) 200
FB (retargeting, lookalike) 200
Instagram ( same as above) 200
I still have about $200 left, I go buy myself a round for me and the team.

Spend it on Design/UX review for my site https://www.watermark.ink (Online Photo Watermarking tool).
I'll register my first company with Stripe Atlas so I can use Stripe for my SaaS product.
For us, growth comes from improving product. Our customers demand X, we are 100 miles away from X. Hence the entire $1000 would be spent to hire a developer to reduce our distance from X.
PS - X is a moving target.
a giant first page ad on my subscription-based website:
sign in now, and be eligible for 1 USD500 prize, 1 USD200 prize and 3 USD100 prizes.
Definitely spend most if not all on advertising, This is one of the hardest things I find tringg to fund the advertising myself
I'd spend it on a mixture of graphics for my software - logo, custom icons, splash image - landing page that matches my software color palette, and hire someone to integrate my software with Paddle. Oh and pay the yearly developer fee on Apple. Then I'd be ready to launch my app properly.
use it to make sure I have an accountant and lawyer come tax season so everything is set up correctly. That's just me though because I messed up setting up my LLC the first time around :)
Crypto.
Investment in the future, all proceeds will benefit the business eventually :)
There are tons of different aspects you can throw $1k onto.
It's really about what you think is best for your business and which method is the most effective one. It's (almost) impossible to tell which way is the most effective one without actually knowing the business and/or trying some of the methods.
Hey @Satch
The question was more for your business, not for mine. I'm interested to hear people's thoughts about what they would do with $1000 in their business.
Of course, too tired to read it properly :-)
Feels like $1k isn't that much so just spend it on software/hardware/affiliate payments..
