What's a topic you'd like to hear about on the IH podcast?

How to stay healthy as an Indie Hacker who works solo and remotely.

Bringing on April Dunford (author of Obviously Awesome) is an great one. I actually tried to look up this interview between you and her last week - I assumed it would have already existed!

Some other authors who would be great to have on:
Rob Fitzpatrick - The Mom Test
Ash Maurya - Running Lean

Something I would like to learn more about is on the idea stage.
How to come up with ideas, how to decide on them etc.

For instance, some of my ideas are really simple, then I don't even feel like I should get started.
Others are so big that I get overwhelmed with the idea of slogging away for years to build product.

This isn't exactly what you're asking for but there is something I really like in the How I Built This podcast where the host takes the last few minutes of each episode to feature a small success story submitted by a listener (called "How You Built That").

I think this would be an awesome addition to the IH podcast, where you could spend a few minutes calling out one of your favorite milestones posted on IH from the week prior. It would be such a cool way to recognize, celebrate and motivate indie hackers who haven't yet seen big enough success to merit their own full podcast interview but are nonetheless inspirational.

Also, bringing @channingallen on the pod would be cool.

I'd love to hear more on user interview best practices, and maybe even some mock interviews. I have read the Mom Test, but still find it hard to use the principles in practice sometimes.

I would love to hear more about how other Indie Hackers developed a long-term marketing process/pipeline (outside of launches/multiple relaunches). Are they setting KPIs independent of revenue, running marketing campaigns, trying out and re-evaluating marketing channels, etc.? What tools are they using to do all of this?

Marketing, especially coming up with a long-term, continuous/repeatable process, is something that I’ve personally struggled with as a technical founder. I’m just starting to dive into the world of Saas marketing, but I’ve got a ways to go.

Side note — not sure if you had this in mind, but if possible, it would be awesome to have these new podcasts filtered by topics (‘Getting started’, ‘Growth’, ‘Design’, ‘Marketing’, ‘Customer Research’, ‘Saas’, ‘E-commerce’, ‘Bootstrapped’, ‘Venture Capital’, etc.).

Since the podcast is usually pretty founder story-heavy, it would be interesting to hear more episodes around specific topics. I liked the code / no-code discussion you had last year with Sahil from Gumroad and Ben from MakerPad. I'm personally not all that interested in building without coding, but the conversation was very worthwhile.

As far as topics, there are a lot of tactical areas which, even though they've been covered in a lot of other venues, would be great for folks from IndieHackers to weigh in on:

• Roundup of marketing channels to try with pros and cons
• Getting your first 10 customers
• Juggling work or freelancing with building a business
• Researching keywords, markets, app ideas
• How do you know when it's time to move on?
• How to build an operationally efficient business

Time management skills for people who are bootstrapping a company while also working a full-time job.

I'm new to the community and to creating, and I'd love to see/learn more about idea generation and running smoke tests to validate an idea's potential.

I'd love to hear some tactics on hiring and team building.

Government (all countries) partnerships, I bet there are people in this group who work with either grants or are just reaching out and partnering with governments or other institutions to advance or address some larger issues.

Building self-discipline. The ability to focus on the task at hand and not be distracted if one's the type that always likes to learn new things and solve problems. I think self-discipline is probably the most important attribute because from that comes time management, etc. How about chatting with an expert on varying techniques to encourage it until it's instilled; not just one, but say three because one method might not suit the individual.

I’d love to hear you interview the founder of PCPartPicker! To my knowledge it solo founded in 2011 outside Silicon Valley by Philip Carmichael (philip@pcpartpicker.com) and now has about 10 employees. Would love to hear you interview him about their story. Thanks @csallen!

I'd enjoy seeing some more on the early stages: how successful people found a good idea, validated it, and got their first users.

I am a new listener, so maybe there are a bunch of episodes that touch on this and I'll see them as I work my way down the episode list. :)

How to build a community that you can continually test with on a budget. It's really hard to offer £50 Amazon vouchers because it becomes really expensive especially if you need to iterate a lot

Newsletters and how to grow them.

I just registered two days ago, and I don't know if you've already made a podcast about it, but it'll be very helpful if you talk about the terminology used here. For example what's bootstrapping, what's being an indie, what's a launch, what's KPI, what's a cofounder and how does it help a startup, what's market share and how's it calculated, how do you launch something from idea to product etc..

Not sure if you have done these already but I'd love to see something on customer acquisition, preferably something focused on organic growth strategies.

How funding works, what the different rounds are called, and what they mean

I'm interested in learning more about software patents. Also micro-saas sites, by which I mean saas sites that are intentionally kept low maintenance and/or limited in size and scope because the owner has a full time job or other commitments going on.

How about the transition point between solo founder and founding team. There's a chasm there I'd love to hear crossed!
