Hello Indie Hackers! I have been a long time lurker here and finally decided to join and contribute. So I'm new, please be nice ;-)
Recently, I launched a MVP version of a SaaS product and I'm not getting good or actually any feedback from potential customers. It took me 3 months to develop the MVP version.
Here are the things I've tried so far, do you think it's time for me to pivot, or should I keep trying?
Found relevant communities on Reddit and offered the product for free in exchange for honest feedback. The product costs $35/month, I got several people interested, but once I setup their account, I never heard from them again. The product is MVP, but no one complained about the lack of features or the cost of the product.
I personally reached out to over 500 potential customers. I wrote very personal emails and my response rate was actually over %10 (quiet surprising for cold emails). While there were some initial interest, none of them converted, or actually kept using the product. I followed up and asked for a feedback, no response.
Spent about $500 on Google Adwords for relevant keywords, over 800 clicks, a few showed interest in the free version, but again none of them actually kept using the product.
This has been a very bumpy ride so far, with lots of ups while coding and downs when I don't hear from potential customers. One person actually used it for 2 weeks, and at the end he said he doesn't think he needs it or the product provides him value.
What do I do from here? Is it time for me to pivot, or should I keep pushing? If latter, how do you manage to find motivation when in similar situation?
Thanks for reading so far.
Congrats on launching your MVP, and welcome to the valley of despair! My startup didn't make a single sale for 6 months after launch of our MVP. We're still far from a success story, but have improved from there and 15 months later, we're getting some traction.
TBH sounds a bit like your product might not be sticky enough, yet. This could be several things: obvious contenders are price point is too high, UX not good enough, or indeed that the problem you're solving isn't one that people are willing to spend money to solve. Each has different solutions (change price, tweak product, pivot), but it might serve you best to spend time trying to identify which of the three is the problem. Sending off a one-click survey email to all of your trial signups might help.
Mine would just be one person's additional feedback, I'm no authority, but I'd be glad to have a look and share my thoughts if you share the link here.
