Yo, indie hackers!
Let's talk about something real here.
The tech industry can be a lonely place when it comes to fitness, you either see skinny techies or those who could use a bit more time at the gym.
Finding a ripped folk is not easy, but it's even harder in tech.
So, I want to learn from you!
What's holding you back from reaching peak physical condition?
Mental health is a thing out there. Why physical is not? Why is not a priority for you?
Bring on the feedback, good or bad!
PS. I'm building RippedRich.com - a newsletter that showcases the folks who are not only killing it in their careers, but also in the gym!
Hi Ripped Rich, you have a great name, I like it. Interestingly I had the totally unproven notion that tech folks would be ripped above-average as they like to compensate for sitting in front of a computer 10 hours a day, 365 days a year.
I guess it was due to this one programmer guy from the Social Dilemma documentary, who was the inventor of Facebook's like button and who had an impressive biceps.
Anyway, I wouldn't consider myself totally ripped but it is visible that i go downstairs to the bars two mornings a week and eat vegetables instead of pizza... No peak condition though due to working full-time and investing energy into starting a business on the side. And like mentioned by Richard, for me being active is also more about the overall state of mind and energy and just feeling well in your body
Been hitting the gym since I was 14, and still doing the same now even working on my AI SaaS Evoke.
Physical fitness is key to mental fitness, which is key to startup success!
love this "Physical fitness is key to mental fitness" and to HEALTH
wow, you must be ripped!! Working out for long!! If you're wealthy I'll be happy to feature your story
Already sent my story!
Just started out with Evoke with 2 co-founders, so not wealthy yet haha
The main key is to start small and be consistent with it. It's much better to do even just 10 pushups per day to get into the mindset than do a whole workout program for a week and then give up.
I started small so I could keep up with school + 2 businesses in high school (did dropshipping and web design), but it has expanded now to calisthenics.
I use a doorframe pullup bar and gymnastics rings as my home gym and do push pull legs
I totally agree with the sentiment expressed in this article. The tech industry can often be lacking when it comes to prioritizing physical fitness, with a stereotype of either skinny techies or those who could use a bit more time at the gym. This can make it hard for individuals to find fitness inspiration and support within the tech community. I appreciate the efforts to shine a light on those who are balancing their careers and physical fitness, through initiatives like RippedRich.com. It's important to acknowledge and celebrate the individuals who are making a conscious effort to prioritize their health and well-being, and hopefully, inspire others to do the same.
Sounds GPT lol
Finally, someone figure it out! Haha actually it was not GPT I was trying my AI chat bot :)
