What's the biggest mistake I see being made in cold emails?

What's the biggest mistake I see being made in cold emails?

Not being relevant.

I see so many personalized horrific cold emails that I promptly delete.

My guess is: you see those same awful cold emails.

Maybe they're personalized and the first line is: Hi FIRST NAME

Or the subject line has your website or company name in it.

Only those are the rare exception. From there, the bar falls lower.

The next cold email reads: "Dear lauralopuch.com"

My name is not a dot com.

You couldn't have taken 2 minutes to find out what my name really is... so your email could at least pretend to be personalized?

Seriously??

We won't even touch the cold emails that start off:

"Dear Sir or Madam."

Puleeze.

So, the biggest mistake I see in cold emails is one that’s super-fixable. And it’s a fix you can do today:

Be relevant to who you're emailing.

Take a minute to find out their name. To discover the person on the other side of the screen reading your email. They aren’t a lead -- they’re a human.

Be relevant to them.

Inside the live Cold Email Superstar Workshop for SaaS, you’ll get templates and guidance on how to do exactly that.

100%, Laura. Personalisation is a huge part of a cold email. I'd then take it a step further and talk about language. Like you said, they're human - corporate BS just doesn't resonate. Use plain English, write how you speak and make it your own.

Be braver than the "I just thought I'd reach out..." cliché.

Totally, Sol. Nobody actually knows what corporate BS means. Even the folks speaking like that! Be a human in your cold email.
