Indie hackers work hard, but do they know why they do it? What's the reason they're motivated to get up every morning, work very hard, and do the same thing the next day?
Comment below the reason why you work so hard, and maybe you'll inspire others to do the same.
Freedom, of course.
Everyone has their own definition of it, for sure - but that's what we all ultimately desire.
Love to learn & build.
I'm a creative and my mind is always churning ideas. Feels like I'm at my best when I'm creating something. In 2003 it was a music album, in 2007 it was a series of flash puzzles and games. These days it web tools harnessing code to make graphics.
When it comes to client work, I'm definitely not as motivated, and sometimes I'm able to plow through client work to get back to my personal projects.
Mastery level.
What many people call work, I call it having fun. I like everything I do on side of my daily job. Since I don't have a daily job at the moment, I like everything I do :)
I feel like I pretty work hard, even though the actual work time is not that much, but whenever I'm not actively working I'm always thinking about my projects.
I do it because I want to create something awesome. It's not about the money or praise, I just want to create something that is really good and brings joy when used.
I work alone on BuildFaster which is a website where I sell easy-to-use HTML themes that speed up the website development process.
I strive to work hard because I know that technology is constantly evolving and people have different opinions. I want to sell a wide variety of themes so I can reach out to more developers who don't want to spend extra hours coding their website.
This is my first time selling a product and I want it to give me a good push into the Indie world. A goal that keeps me motivated is to reach $100 MRR. This would do wonders for BuildFaster and would help me reach new boundaries.
Hope that helps 😄
