Texting has been really big for us. We basically ripped out any conversation we were having via email, and replaced it with texting. This has really helped conversion rates. This is for both my funeral webcasting, and photography company. Are life time values are very high so it's worth spending a lot of time hand holding potential customers.
For Indie Worldwide what's worked lately has been doubling/tripling/quadrupling down on one on one conversations. Engaging new members right away, providing value asap, and starting conversations with people online who might later become interested in joining the group.
This helps break the ice and also seems like it gives people a model for how they should engage with the group, making them more likely to be active and welcome new members in turn.
Made a little Twitter thread about it over the last couple weeks with the behind the scenes stats.

One thing I’m exploring is podcasting to build in public. I originally recorded a first episode I didn’t like, but as of tonight I’ve finally released it! I’m hoping that this drives some attention to the product I’m working on, hopefully speeding up the really slow starting stage of the product.
