What's your biggest problem as an aspiring entrepreneur?

Hi, I'm Alex.

For years, I've dreamt about starting my own business that aligns with my passion. Just like a lot of us :)

The only problem is...I don't ever actually start. I crumble in uncertainty.

I go through a cycle. I get excited about an idea, research, research, research, and then never fully commit. I don't take legit action and make the necessary mistakes to move forward. Then I move on to the next shiny idea.

I do this because I'm 1) worried about picking the wrong thing to specialize in for me long term and 2) get scared that I'm not doing it right

Either way, I give up and get super upset with myself.

I'm SO curious: does anyone else face this?? Anybody break this awful cycle and can offer advice?

Thanks so much in advance for any responses here.

I vote for the second but shiny object syndrome is a huge problem too

I have a similar problem. I voted for the 2nd option but I think 1st 4 options apply in my case.

Working on stuff that doesn't matter. I was a victim to it long ago and today I see folks fall victim to it all the time... Tinkering with website, changing colors, installing plugins, creating social media headers, creating a contact form, etc. These are all intrinsic activities. Important to some degree but the amount of time people spend on this stuff is a waste. Without customers, you have no business. Marketing takes time to be effective, especially content marketing. That time should be the priority.

Commitment - this is the hardest part because humans have commitment issue, that's why it is so hard to form habits. Once you figure out how to train yourself to "make habits", things can become easier. And remember, break things into small parts so each step feels like a "small win" that you can celebrate. The book Atomic Habits might help :)
