I have an interesting item on today's task list for DevQuarterly:
- get press coverage for the US IT outsourcing industry analysis
Admittedly this is a first for me. Never reached out to a journalist before about my business.
My plan is:
- finish the analysis and publish it on our website
- write a summary with some interesting charts
- reach out to journalists who have already covered this or similar topics before
Is there an extra step or a trick I'm missing? :)
Thanks,
When I was promoting Guess the Throne I reached out to I don't know how many press folks. My first advice would be don't rely on it to market your product because it may never come, but when it does hold on!
Find people who have written articles in your industry and shoot them personalized DMs that is direct to your product. Bonus points if you have a press kit to point them to that contains assets, a sample post they can use, and brief summary of your product.
Lastly, follow up! Never gotten press from a single email. I have a three strike rule and by the third personalized follow up you should see at least some people respond one way or another.
