Mine is: using your own app when you develop it, and using it to create something like an end user - are not the same! I can't explain why, but they are 2 absolutely different experiences. Weird but fact.
Being motivated to work on your startup isn't the same as being motivated to succeed. The latter is harder, as it tends to require setting aside work you want to do in favor of work you need to do. Perhaps I'll wrote a short post about this.
OMG, how true it is!
Everyone should cut these words in the stone and put before eyes :-0
Now the question - how to figure out what you need to do and how not to confuse it with what you want to do? ;-)
So very true, if you're approaching it like the developer you tend to accept and work around any quirks and nuances.
The moment you approach it like you're an end user, your tolerance level and "closeness" to the app drops and you end up being way more critical about your work.
And then you iterate and improve :)
Right!
But I would add, it's not only about "more critical way", it's also a different way! I really don't know why but when I develop something I can't see if the future user experience will be good or not. I can see only when I try it as an end user. And sometimes it's disappointingly awful :-0
