What's your October epic?

What do you plan to accomplish for the month of October?

Need to re-calibrate myself this month. Been a strange (but still pretty productive) September, but it looks like I'll have a bit more freedom of the type I need in October. On my list are the following:

    FEATURES

    • Add Security
    • Add Logging (for internal use for now, but may become a premium feature)
    • Add Rate Limiting and visibility for usage statistics

    CONTENT

    • 2 demo apps and write them up for blog
    • also write up the blog for the demo I finished last week
    • release demo app code project on Github

Go from zero to one on the simplest idea that I have: Taekwondo Forms flash cards. I plan to sell them digitally (and potentially physically) on Gumroad. Wish me luck!

The main thing is I want to do is make IH a more rewarding place to contribute, by optimizing the following loop: post to IH → we'll notify your followers → you enjoy getting comments, upvotes, and new followers → repeat, but this time with more followers. There's a lot to improve with each step, but I should be able to make a little progress every day.

I'd also like to experiment with splitting up our mailing lists a bit.

I got a nice sharp dose of reality the last several days as I had the opportunity to send some more information to someone who could really help me bring Announcr into the world. So I put together a pitch deck with lots of detail. What was my timeline for the next several months? Is this really the road out the door? What's hard to explain to other people? I want to tie funding to this.. and this is.. my plan.

It's easy to stay in the safe bubble of development. GULP.

So this is what my timeline looks like:

So... basically next I need to truly finish my prototype. That's October's Epic. Plan out a month's worth of usability improvements so that I can go show it to someone here in town and see if they would use it, and for it to be usable (and good) enough in November for someone to want to jump on the team and begin going out to sell it to local businesses. I've had one major pivot already this summer, so a lot of the existing prototype needs to be hidden, and a new definition for MVP needs to be created.

October Epic for Announcr: Complete the MVP.

Going to get mailward.io into open beta! Once that happens, going to split my time getting signups and building out additional features for the paid plan launch.

BRB with mine... I wish everyone much success in October!

In October I will earn a month's worth of overhead & expenses by acquiring new clients. I will help my client hit their 1st goal by improving my service. I'll use any insight gain to propose & validate a solution with software development consultants.

Turns out that my schedule slipped (various reasons) and that my October EPIC is my former September plan. The good part is that at least I had a income while hustling on the projects. Progress wasn't as hoped, but it wasn't bad either.

IOW the plans for October are:

    • Submit new macOS product "Process Describer" at the Apple App Store by the end of the month.
    • Release Vimalin 64 bits for macOS Catalina

Sweet! You made progress this month. One or maybe many steps closer to the goal line!!!!

Exactly, it is all about the continuous progress to get closer to the end line.
