What do you guys personally struggle with?
etc...
Which one is yours? (or is it not on this list?)
I'm working on a project to help IH's with their mental state and ability to be productive in a hectic world: https://www.noothackers.com/
What do you think?
For me it's momentum.
Days with it are dope.
Days without are sad.
Why do you have days without momentum?
What makes those days lack momentum?
How have you already tried to combat this?
Bruh... You really listed this first in a long list of things?
You okay bro?
LMFAOOOOO yes yes yes all good down here mate
But for some people, it's a big thing.
Libido, ED, low motivation & sex drive, etc - especially from overworking and stress
Absolutely, I agree.
I know you're coming up with a new supplement, so you're talking more about sex drive and ED and what not, but honestly most men's sexual problems are:
Wife isn't putting out as much as they'd like (or at all) for married dudes, or
Can't get dates from girls/matches on dating apps for single dudes.
Just putting this out there!
which category do you fit into?
The second I could probably help with rather than the first...
Finding (good) people to help me with the stuff I'm not good at (e.g. marketing). In the end, I often realize that I have to spend the effort myself to learn those skills, very rarely I do find someone who actually wants to do a good job and not only looking for an easy way to get money and dragging the tasks for as long as possible.
Knowing what to focus on and what's important. Letting things that don't work go instead of spending way too much time trying to make them work.
Having someone to actually bounce ideas back and forth, someone that really understands my business, which is hard to really understand unless you do work within that business.
And most importantly: being able to be happy when NOT working on the business. There's always a feeling of guilt when relaxing, as you know you could spend that time working on your business instead. I can somewhat fix this by thinking that relaxing IS working on my business, as it drastically improves the quality of my productive time.
For me it's a burnout for sure. It sneaks up on you.
It does. It really does.
Firstly, you should manage your workload and spread it throughout the weeks with (mandatory) breaks built-in.
Secondly, are you doing anything daily to improve your productivity mental state?
I just spent 3 weeks finishing this https://www.indiehackers.com/post/easy-to-make-explainer-videos-can-you-share-feedback-baffe7bc1d. By now I already nauseous looking at it - should prob take a day off tomorrow.
Overall any change of scenery and exercise helps a lot.
lmfaoooo, love the way you worded that hahaha
Validation of ideas is still one of the hardest things, because at the start you don't have 1000s of users to talk to.
Hey @ruudniew, I'm actually building a tool right now that helps validate ideas efficiently. We have a few open slots on our closed beta. If you're interested in trying us out, shoot me an email!
I feel you big time here mate. Going through this exact process right now with: https://www.noothackers.com/
How are you best dealing with this? and what are you building?
Likewise, I am interested in knowing this. Do you know anything about https://karljacobsmerch.net/.
NEED MORE ⏳⏳⏳!!!!!
It's part of the reason I built this. To help me manage my time in a fun way.
None of that is a problem for me. But then again, I can't quite call myself a true Indie Hacker @LouTromans
I'm 54 and have been building, failing and exiting tech startups since 2004. All my efforts to have co-founders always failed.
I work well as a solo founder, but always struggled with a lack of enough capital to have a full team.
I finally cracked this with https://skilledup.life - for a small subscription fee (£30/month), now you can have unlimited free talent.
When I was young, stress and mental health were not issues. People just kept their heads down and delivered. Now it's a different world.
All the best with your medical product.
Thank you very much. Best of luck on your project!!
Thanks
The hardest thing for me is not being distracted.
Do you feel as though you can't focus (for long periods of time)?
For me in the short term it's easy to focus.
Meaning, coding and creating and interacting are fun and engaging and it's easy to focus.
In the long term it's easy to be distracted by, for example, an exciting job opportunity.
Lack of pressure and accountability if going it alone is my biggest weakness. A lot of those you mentioned are symptoms of it I think.
Now I just let people know I'm working on something so that they will ask me how it's going when we have opportunities to chat again. This way I could apply artificial pressure to myself to finish.
That's a great one, I will apply it myself from now on.
Loosing momentum while working on many different things
Working on one thing at a time will help you achieve more in a short period of time.
I feel you big time here bro. I'm working on two things at once: https://www.noothackers.com/ and Tube2blog.com
What are you working on?
What have you done to combat yourself losing momentum?
Get me more drive please!
Hhahahaha, are you lacking motivation mate?
What are you working on right now?
I'm all over the place now. Having a decent job is not helping :)
If you are comfortable, it's hard to be driven. Humans tend to do best and improve in stressful times or after major changes occurred in their life. If you are sold on the indie-hacking idea, quitting your job is always an option, as that forces you to find ways to earn money with indie-hacking.
hahahah I can relate to this!
Do you feel like you're lacking focus and clarity?
