Hey UX folks,
I'm curious to learn your take on the new-age command bar UX.
By command bar, I mean the search widget that opens up when you hit the hotkey Cmd/Ctrl + k.
You must have seen it on Notion, Cron, GitHub, Linear, Warp terminal, Height app, Arc browser (Cmd + t) and most new-age tech products. Superhuman is probably the first app which marketed this (+ shortcuts) as a productivity feature.
This is actually not a new thing. Mac's Spotlight has been there for many years now. But bringing that experience to desktops and web apps is a smart move.
I think that this bar is powerful, especially because it's easy to navigate, search for data, and take action from anywhere in the app.
What do you think of this UX pattern? Do you think more people will adopt this in the future, or is this some hype?
