What's your Twitter handle?

I love Twitter, but I don't have enough IndieHackers in my feed!

What's your Twitter handle, and what do you primarily tweet about?

I'll go first: @JamieHoward, and I tweet mostly about focus and building Hey Thunderbird and Slingshot in public.

Would love to connect with you!

  1. 2

    Hey Twitter account: https://twitter.com/firstyearintern
I focus on building in public at my first internship and things I've learned along the way

    1. 1

That's awesome! A cousin of the "building in public" trend that gets talked about a lot less is "learning in public". In some ways, it's even more valuable. It sounds like you're in a great place to lean into that.

      Wishing you all the best!

      1. 1

Thanks! You as well! I just dropped you a follow.

  2. 2

    https://twitter.com/sandro_vol

My focus is mainly on posting about building SaaS products with AWS, and showing insights into two products I am building:

    1. deposur.de -> Mobile application for tracking portfolios and investments
    2. Feedbee.io -> Get feedback in your react native app
    1. 1

That’s awesome. Both seem great! What’s next for the projects?

P.S. saw a slight typo on Feedbee’s site: “ copmletly” in the “Free” section.

      Following!

      1. 2

Thanks and many thanks for the typo! I wanted to post the page in roast my landing page anyway so thats great feedback.

For deposur it is currently mainly getting rid of technical debt, especially the lambda handlers have to be improved a lot and we need to change the ui library because ui kitten isn't that nice.

For feedbee we currently just validating if there is a market basically and trying it out directly with deposur :-)

    My twitter account:
    https://twitter.com/CarreiroMiguel

I post about key learnings from the most innovative companies in the world and what they do differently that makes them better than everyone else.

    1. 1

I love that you have a specific niche. Following! How’s growing your newsletter going? I have a small one (121 subscribers), but have put it on pause because I didn’t feel like I could consistently deliver value.

      1. 2

Thanks! It's going very slow, but I think it's because I haven't been using good distribution channels - most views are coming from posting on Hacker News, so I need to work on that.

What are you writing on yours? Have you tried changing it or expand to other related topics so you don't feel as constrained?

        1. 1

That's great! Mine was initially a journal of my startup journey. The problem was that the initial subscribers were friends and family that aren't my ideal customer base. If I were going to restart it tomorrow, I'd be a lot more audience focused.

  4. 2

    https://twitter.com/jeffeddev

I like to tweet about react native and react, occasionally .net

    1. 1

Following! Daily Discomfort sounds like such a fun idea! How did you come up with it?

      1. 2

Thanks! I basically moved to a new city and wanted to challenge myself to grow and get myself out of my comfort zone and experience new things

        1. 1

That sounds like a recipe for success :)

  5. 2

    Hi!

https://twitter.com/vicjicama - I tweet about the findings and progress of the projects that I am working on and my learning on the marketing side

    1. 1

That’s great! I often tell people: share what you’ve learned, what you’re learning and what you want to learn. Simple as that. Following!

  6. 2

I am https://twitter.com/dsabar - and I tweet about startups as well as Formula1, guitar playing... all sorts of stuff really... :)

    1. 2

I’m not sure about F1, but my first electric guitar was a 1963 Gibson ES-330TD, so I can relate a little, haha. What are you indie-hacking these days?

      1. 2

Nice! My first guitar was a '74 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe... Made in the same year my wife was born! 😄 My current startup is an online HR Platform that is going really well now (after many years of hard grinding). We have over 20K employees using it in 70+ countries now.

        1. 2

Wow! That's incredible. Our company, (Slingshot)[https://www.indiehackers.com/product/slingshot] does swag giveaways and a portion of our customers are HR folks rewarding their staff. That's a cool space :) I'm going to be sure to follow your feed here on IH!

  7. 2

I have a few handles - currently I'm focusing on:

    https://twitter.com/twitmate

Tweets related to #buildinpublic, all things 'Twitter management' and I like to retweet quality tweets from our users

    1. 1

Interesting idea! How are users liking the service so far? Any success stories you can share?

      1. 2

        Thanks Jamie!

To be honest there have been ups and downs:

The up is that every single user has seen really good follower growth, interaction on their tweets and traffic to their websites. It's at the stage where we have just sent out invites to waitlist members - so the best info we have is for beta testers and in-house use.

We're public on the demo page which shows a couple of real stats from our in-house use. Currently follower growth is 1515 followers from 164 originally (in October).

We also have a handful of beta testers showing similar growth and also getting increased traffic to their sites. https://twitter.com/rise_d_s is a London based architect who have been able to stop all their Google Ads and employ extra staff as they are so busy since using the service.

The down is that we only got approx 10 waitlist members - it's a few days since we sent out invites and we've only had one paying sign-up from this. I was hoping for more at this stage. But it's the first time I've gone down the build-in-public with a waitlist approach so I'm probably missing a few tricks.

However, this project is not a short-term thing and I've always had good results from SEO (although it takes time) so this is next.

        1. 2

I love the demo page! What a great idea. And I’m sure the success stories have been really encouraging.

If I could offer some unsolicited copy advice, I’d definitely encourage you to use more “result language” over “feature language” in your messaging. For instance, something like “Grow your audience on autopilot” communicates a transformational identity for the potential user.

Also, it would be great to show screenshots of a user’s Twitter bio before and after, similar to the style of Harry’s Marketing Examples.

Of course, this is just my two cents, so take it for what it’s worth 😂

          1. 2

Thanks for the tips - much appreciated and I totally agree!

I really have to get round to updating the copy soon and I will focus on showcasing some more of the results and to get them front and center.

Moving from 'join the waitlist' to live sign-ups as I type this :)

  8. 2

Lol I just found you here because you asked on twitter "share your IH". And now I see you here "share your twitter". Let's do this mate, Twitter and IH is the ultimate combo 😂🚀

    https://twitter.com/dagorenouf
I try to post a mix of fun / insightful tweets about the startup journey. I aim to never post a single platitude 😀

    1. 2

Gotta keep the conversation working on both platforms 😂 😂

Love your bio by the way! What keeps you going when you feel like family doesn’t necessarily understand what you’re doing?

      1. 2

        Thank you Jamie!

If anything it motivates me to prove them wrong 🔥, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

        1. 2

Love it. Wishing you the best!

  9. 2

    My new twitter handle: https://twitter.com/devsimplicity

I'll mostly write about simplifying and optimizing things in modern (web) development.

    1. 2

Interesting idea! How’s the new site coming along?

      1. 2

I'm working on some changes, I'll post the update when I hit some kind of milestone.
        Thank you for asking.

    1. 1

Following, and actually looked at Cleanly the other day because I thought it was such a great idea! What’s next for the business?

      1. 2

We actually merged with another company in Jan 2020. I'm still on the board and have my shares but no longer an active employee. The company is continually growing.

        1. 1

Congratulations on that! What's next for you?

          1. 1

I recently invested in a few companies as well as mentoring a bunch of entrepreneurs. I also started a blog a month or so ago - GrowthReflection.com.
I'm at the start of opening up a new startup but this is in the very early days.

  11. 2

    My Twitter account : https://twitter.com/siddy_gupta

      1. 2

        Thank you Jamie.

We have some plans that we are already working on, but the main focus is to keep working on the templates.

        1. 1

          Awesome! Wishing you the best!

    My twitter account:
    https://twitter.com/nihalmohanm

I mostly post about drones and drone tech. Also sometimes, cool products and tech stuff that I enjoy!

    1. 2

Love your bio and drones sounds like such a fun field to be in. How’s your newsletter coming along?

      1. 2

        Thanks Jamie!

It's been two weeks since launch and have reached 30 subscribers so far. It's a very niche topic, and I'm expecting a steady slow growth. Focusing on consistency right now.

        1. 1

That’s great! I followed Pat Flynn’s approach to getting your first 100 subscribers: https://pages.smartpassiveincome.com/0-to-100-email-challenge-new-evergreen/

          Wishing you the best!

          1. 2

Wow! Thanks for that resource, Jamie! Looks very promising.

Hoping to reach that milestone soon!

  14. 2

It's coming along! Still lots of areas to improve : ) Happy father's day!

  16. 2

I mostly tweet about my business, the milestones we hit, and anything I find interesting between tech, film, and AR/VR. @Zeitzew32

    1. 1

Following. You had me at the profile pic wearing Google Glass (sold mine back when)! What are you working on these days?

      1. 1

Ah very cool! I started a film production company and recently produced a keynote speech and a music video in VR! Haven't had the opportunity to do any AR recently. I also developed a new mobile app. Check out Butlersupport.com and tell me what you think!

    1. 1

Hey, you got the intent link right, haha. What’s next for LF.gg?

      1. 2

focusing on YouTube, maybe write a guide/handbook!

        1. 1

Awesome. I love what @Julian said here about the YT -> Podcast flow if that's something you're into: https://twitter.com/Julian/status/1396901048342679553

          1. 2

I dont like podcasts that much.. they make me sleepy ;(

  17. 2

Hey Hey! Always good to connect with other indie makers.

    MY TWITTER: https://twitter.com/uwwgo

I build mainly projects that incorporate some form of AI as that's my field of expertise. Currently working on a project in the crypto space and a project to generate good domain names w/ AI.

    I'm happy to follow back!

    1. 2

Really fun idea! I’ve been playing with GPT-3 and never ceases to blow my mind. Did you decide on a name for the project or are you going to use the project to name the project? :)

      1. 1

Thanks! Yeah GPT-3 and other modern NN models are incredible.

The name I've mostly decided on, and I did think of it initially. But I did find http://www.remindy.me that way, and built a mini product on it! 😂

        1. 1

          Haha, that's so fun!

  18. 2

Do it! I started using Twitter seriously in August 2020 (after being on there since 2008), and it’s been so much fun to build relationships with folks. What are you building?

Terrific! You probably know this, but the biggest pieces are:

          • Answer the questions your desired audience already has
          • Consistently show up over and over, regardless of initial success
          • Make sure that you're spending as much time thinking about the distribution of your content as you are creating it.
