When Did Free Users Start Feeling Heavy?

I used to love having lots of free users.

Lately it feels like they take more time than they give back.

When did free users start feeling heavy for you — support load, feature requests, or something else?

What did you change after that?

Appreciate the honesty here, most people only share the wins.

Ours are shaped differently because of one early choice: the free scan needs no signup. Anyone can run it (up to 2,000 pages, about 30 seconds) and leave. That makes free users cost us compute, not attention: no accounts to support, no password resets, no feature requests from people who never meant to pay. The trade-off is that we can't follow up with anyone who runs it. I suspect "heavy" starts the moment a free user gets an account, because an account implies a relationship. So the lever might be less about limiting free users and more about deciding which free actions actually need an identity. What's the heaviest part for you right now, support or feature requests?

This is great work — what's the biggest thing you'd do differently if you started over?
