Hello IH,
I am looking for some advice for my next steps. At this point, I have 3 customers who are ready to give my MVP a run. The MVP is supposed to go out in May 2020. Now based on the feedback from my MVP I believe the fate of my company lies. As of now, I do not have any co-founder. I am the only person working on the idea. I am a developer myself and would look for a sales cofounder. My question is when should I start to look for the sales cofounder? As at this point creating a sales pipeline will be a waste of time and effort if the outcome of MVP is not positive. On the other hand, if it is positive, and I do not have a sales cofounder, what should be my approach in that case?
Please advice. Thanks!
I would suggest you speak to many people soon. Not only just as a cofounder, but any potential collaborator.
What may happen is someone remembers what you are building and they refer you, and also in general your network will grow.
Do you already have a landing page? Even without the product out you will probably want that for validation, with a 'mail for updates' form. Also for SEO. Much easier to do SEO if your domain has been up for a while.
'MVP I believe the fate of my company lies' - why?? You should already be validating your idea even before investing in an MVP. You should have an idea about who you are selling to, how many they are, and what your company is all about.
Your MVP without a solid go to market plan: probably will be only a few people you have spoke with or can get from launch programs like PH.
Without a cofounder: If it is naturally viral, you have a good idea. You will want a sales person, maybe not even as a founder.
Few users after MVP and no cofounder: You will want a sales person, maybe not even as a founder.
Thanks for all your advice.
My app is mostly mobile and regarding the web landing page, I am still working on it.
So for my validation, I created a prototype on Adobe and showed it to my potential customers, they loved the idea and were really excited to get their hands on it. So after this feedback, I started working on the MVP. Now though they loved the idea on paper and when I am building it, I can see it coming out really well. But still, none of my clients have actually used it yet. I have a solid belief in my product but for customers, it is going to be a substantial change. Though they are happy because it addresses their pain points but still it will need some adaptation at their end and that is my only hesitation which kind of leads me to say " the company fate lies on MVP".
