We released v1 of our app(https://easypop.app/) recently and now we're working on growing - there's still a lot of features we have planned.
Here's the question - when is the right time to post to Product Hunt? I feel like it's such a difficult decision to make (especially being a perfectionist).
Appreciate all thoughts/comments :)
It really depends on your goal with the launch. If it's to get some early exposure and feedback then launch it really early. If its to get paid users, then you need to be far enough along that people will be willing to pay for it.
The other thing to keep in mind is you can launch now, and then launch again in a few months when you are further along.
Shameless plug our checklist for launching on PH
That's a really good way to put it. I don't think I've had really thought about an ideal outcome. Getting feedback and exposure sounds good but so does getting paid users. Will probably try launching sooner
I posted my app on ProductHunt on Tuesday this week, here's what I got:
Hope this helps!
I wrote a few posts about striving for user value and early exposure, and keeping the desire to add more features at bay. See adrukh.medium.com if you're interested.
The rule is simple - if you're proud of what you launched, you launched too late. Being 'ashamed' is not just fine, it keeps you focused!
That's a really interesting perspective. I think for a while I've been striving for perfection. I like what you're saying!
Thanks, but I'm only repeating what wiser people have said before :)
Here's a very recent, first-hand experience of how polishing your features to perfection may feel like progress, but putting things in the hands of your users is the real progress - https://twitter.com/adrukh/status/1397442800736772099
That's really cool - hmmm that deff helps to put things in perspective. Perfection has always been something I aim for but I know it probably slows things down
