Where are the best places to get ideas from?
I'm always searching for places where people talk about where they got stuck. I think that's the best starting point for a new product.
In practice that pretty much boils down to lurking on Reddit and various niched Facebook groups.
Haven't found an ideal place to start though. I miss the old forums and message boards.
IH is good as well, but here it's only us indiehackers and you can mostly talk about SaaS or B2B ideas.
Where do you guys usually look? Do you have some sort of methodology you folllow?

I think it's best if you come up with you own idea, an idea of a problem you think is worth solving. You have to be really interested in what you'll be working on.
Otherwise you can "stumble upon a problem" pretty much anywhere, but the platform you'll find it will determine who your target audience will be (e.g. if you want to solve a problem an indie hacker met, your audience will likely be indie entrepreneurs)
Start with the problems you face. See if there are ways to solve your problems. If there is a better way to do it, then validate it with more people and then build. Fall in love with the problem not your solution.
Ideas are plenty, its the execution that matters.
I assume you're part of different groups in your daily life (colleagues, friends, hobby groups, etc). I suggest to look for problems those groups have. And solve them.
For example I spend a lot of time with PMs, developers and QA. I see their problems and the workarounds every day.
If I wanna build something new I would just focus on an annoying problem they have often. Then I would propose different solutions. If a solution makes them excited I would create sketches, wireframes, etc.
If that is still interesting, then I would build an MVP.
