Where are the early adopters ? 👀

I have been building Scopebrite for about one year now and I have done some of the 'NEVER DO THIS WHEN BULIDING A STARTUP'. One of which I did not do enough was - talk to more users, as often as possible, mostly due to my though process that its easier to keep building than trying to sell so lets just keep building, even if basically no one knows or cares about the product.
I did talk with around 20 potential users and had more testing it out and 2 of them actually wanted to bring Scopebrite to their company, I was ecstatic, but still nothing 🤷, at point in time I probably should have shifted my energy to talk with 200+ users instead of building

Offtopic: Should we call this software engineer syndrome (SYS) ?

Bad idea, motivation eventually runs out, almost nothing in the tank even if the journey so far has been awesome.

That being said, here goes the short pitch:
Scopebrite aim is to streamline digital project development for indie hackers, agencies and builders in general. It helps going from understanding to building faster - from reading notes, client briefings, feature requests, among others and extracting all necessary information to understand and build the product; to helping you draft personas and create extensive user stories for you based on your requirements and the project context, you name it. Spend less time understanding and documenting what needs to be done, and go straight to building.

Right now we are live at https://app.scopebrite.com/ and I am looking for users to try it out, brutally rate it, tell me if you would pay for it, and if there is something you love, also do let me know, that is always nice to hear.

Shoot me a DM or drop a comments if you're willing to talk to me!
I would also love to hear what was your journey to getting that early traction and some early adopters!

Appreciate you all!

From your pitch I can't tell what your product would help me with exactly.
You wrote 8 lines with a lot of filler words. I think a short slogan and then examples would help way more for others to understand what it does and if they need it.
For example "from reading random notes and extracting information" I have no clue what "random notes" are and what information I would want to extract and what to do with the extracted information.

Thanks for the feedback, just edited slightly the pitch!
I never really considered including examples but that might be a good idea, thanks!

Hey, that's an interesting piece. I myself had a previous startup focused on making people take more out of their internal knowledge base. (not the same niche). I think it is a good approach to not focus on huge organizations as they tend to be very careful with their data and have a much longer decision making process.
I like your website - it has exactly what I would've put on a website for pre-launch. I wonder if you use a website builder or if it is done using some sort of no-code solution?

    1. 1

      Hey thanks!

The landing page was done using webflow, whilst the tech stack of the web app itself is NEXT.JS and .NET.

  3. 2

you really need a sales page.

Nothing about this would really push me to give over my email.

    1. 1

      Thank you for the feedback!
What would you expect in a sales page?
The list of features and pricing ?
More information about how Scopebrite can be useful ?

At my company (very old Fortune 50 company) they are very picky with generative AI. Even Azure and AWS are highly scrutinized despite how trustworthy they are in general. The reason is because we don't want to accidentally leak our data or infringe on intellectual property. So maybe the lesson here is don't target big, old companies in highly regulated industries. Make sure to target startups that are willing to move fast and break things

    1. 1

      100%.

That being said, for some reason, those big ones were the ones mostly available to start discussions but eventually died out.. whilst smaller companies/startups w ere not that open to the possibility of Scopebrite being useful to them, but as most of the comments here state the value proposition maybe was not there and they did not want to 'waste time with maybes'.

  5. 2

I think, on top of some of the feedback you've gotten already, you also need to be aware of what an "early adopter" really is in most cases - that being someone who's eager to try something new, but not necessarily going to jump at something completely untested!

    1. 1

      Hey, 100%!

With early adopter I mean someone that is willing to try it out and be motivated to be the first in and help drive the product - maybe asking too much.
That being said, I've talked with some people and had a couple of users already that suggested a couple of things, just would be nice to have more, and for them to stay around for longer

  6. 2

You really need to nail that value proposition, @Dordio. It sounds clumsy & feature-focused. People don't care about the cool tech you use if they aren't clear on "why this matters to THEM".

Really focus on a simple, clear, genuinely unique value proposition & - assuming you go where your target market hang out - you'll start to see users trickle in.

    1. 1

Thank you for the honest critique!

    Hi Miguel,

Would you consider a usage exchange? You brutally rate my product and I will do yours and since my product is task management I will even log bugs and potential new features for your product in my product.

    My product is at https://uclusion.com.

Just some quick feedback on your sign up page - where you say "Jump straight right in. No sign-up required." I think you mean "No credit card required." as sign up = give you my email which you do require.

However since I don't know much about digital product development beyond working on our website I can't speak exactly for your users. However I do know a lot about product development in general and applications that try to help it.

    1. 1

      Hey, thanks!

Sure, lets do that! I'll try your product out somewhere this week and let you know

      1. 2

        Great look forward to it.

        1. 1

          Hi @disrael

          My first thoughts on uclusion:

          • I was a bit overwhelmed when I first joined
          • Too many clicks to create something - it would be nice if it was simplified and we could see everything in one go (for example creating a job)
          • the inbox looks interesting feature - similar to 'catch up of slack' for example, so very cool.
          • The color pallete is not really nice to the eyes (at least for me)
          • Overall I think the UI deserves more love

For smaller teams that can use jira and others for mostly free, I dont think they would switch to this platform.

How do you position uclusion vs jira, clickup, linear, trello, asana, etc etc ?

          1. 2

            Hi @Dordio,

Thanks, my Scopebrite feedback is in a Uclusion workspace sent to the same email you signed up for Uclusion with - let me know if you have any issue with that.

I've already taken a pass at fixing the color pallete in Uclusion.

As for jira, clickup, linear, trello, asana and smaller teams using them for free - these tools are awful and my real competition with smaller teams is spreadsheets or nothing at all. The positioning against spreadsheets or nothing is what you see on the landing page https://uclusion.com but I agree early sales is always hard.

            1. 1

Yes, no problem. Awesome, already accepted.

      2. 2

I might like an in on this :)
Mine's Goleko, I'd like to know what you guys think😉

        1. 1

          Awesome!
At a first glance it looks like a Trello clone, what would be the main differences ?

          1. 1

Thanks for checking it out, Miguel,

As Project management apps, all of us share certain features here and there because we all have the same objectives -to help people manage and finish their projects efficiently.

However, at Goleko we are keen on productivity and accounting for it.

Goleko is simpler, way faster, we integrated optimistic lock feature that prevents loss and overriding of info, multi-project system, time integration, and screen recording-as-comment with audio input so you expound your ideas a lot easier either to yourself, a client, or teammates (it also occupies very little space as its web-based too).

            1. 1

There are many more on goleko, too, if you give it a try :)

        2. 1

          Hi Martin,

I logged into Goleko but not sure how you are trying to position it. Seems like kind of a starter app to prove that you can code and it does prove that.

          1. 2

ouch there goes 6 years of sleepless nights, haha.

Don't worry though, I've been a developer for almost 15. Have you tried using it, experimented with its features, or collaborated using Goleko?

If you haven't, I've responded to @Dordio, to give a little peak about what we can do :)
            Thanks for the feedback!

    Hey Miguel,

I would be stoked to get in touch with you. Keep an eye out for an invite on your LinkedIn! Building Scopebrite sounds like a wild ride—kudos for diving into the deep end of startup life. Getting those early users on board is a milestone worth celebrating, even if the journey has its ups and downs.

I just started my own company recently so I empathize with you. We’re all about helping early-stage products like Scopebrite find their groove in the market. Lending a helping hand and love growing together

If you are looking for someone with a hunger like yours, let’s chat more about collaborating. Maybe we can brainstorm ways to amp up user engagement or swap stories on navigating startup quirks.

Drop me a DM or comment—I’m all ears and excited to connect!

    1. 1

      Hey!

      Always up for collaborating

      1. 1

That sounds perfect. I just sent you an email. Looking forward to the next step

I like the idea, but I'm more of a visual learner when it comes to software. If you had a demo of some sort (either screenshots or videos) on the home page, it could make it clearer how the product works and who would benefit the most from it.

New Pitch: "ScopeBrite Kills Distraction & Documentation Overwhelm for Indies & Startups"

Now you tell people what it does and who its for.

    Enjoy onboarding.

  11. 1

    Nice work Miguel.

I'm not quite sure who this is positioned for. Is it for indie teams, SME or larger business?

I'd love to know WHO this is for, as right now when I landed I thought project management, then get a flavour of product-team focus - would love your insight.

    1. 2

      Thanks!

The positioning I would really want to have it would be indie teams and SMEs that are either building products for themselves or for others (as agencies) and would benefit of the processes that bigger companies have - due to their size (since bigger companier can afford to have more specialized employees to work ONLY as a product owner, for example)

Early adopters are typically found at the forefront of technology or product trends, eagerly embracing innovations before they become mainstream. They can often be found in tech-savvy communities, online forums, and industry events where new ideas are discussed and evaluated. Early adopters are characterized by their willingness to take risks and their influence in shaping consumer perceptions and market trends.
