Where do hackers/freelancers get healthcare?

Hello hackers,

I did a quick search on past posts to see if this topic has already been discussed, but I've been curious about how freelancers go about providing themselves with health insurance.

— Do you currently have health insurance?
— How did you find a health insurance provider? Why did you choose them?
— Did you qualify for any insurance premium subsidies?
— Did you consider any insurance benefits besides health?

    Wow, this is so far from my reality ... I live in a country where the healthcare is basically free, and wheather I am fully employed or not has not bearing on weather I can see a doctor or not ...
